Melissa Joan Hart Plans Restaurant Venture
New mum MELISSA JOAN HART is set to become the latest celebrity to take on running a restaurant after signing up for a culinary business course in Los Angeles.
The actress, who gave birth to her second child, Braydon Hart Wilkerson, last month (Mar08), is keen to become a restaurateur - and she wants to make sure she's got the business sense to be successful. She tells American magazine In Touch, "I'm taking a course on opening a restaurant at UCLA. "When you're an actor, all that downtime when you're not working is killer, so I want to have something fun on the side that I can do." Hart hopes to open her dream restaurant with actress pal Kellie Martin, insisting, "It's super-secret because no one else has anything like it." (KL/ITC/IG)

Why do they keep doing this? Over 80% of restaurants fail within the first 18 months. It's such a competitive field. Wouldn't it make sense to simply invest in a venture featuring an excellent chef and concept? I wonder if it's just ego.
