Obama '08

I was looking for a place to post this, and I couldn't find an Obama thread..

For all of 5 minutes, I was thinking maybe Obama wouldn't be half bad at president until I stumbled upon this article...

Quote:
As transparently biased as the MSM is, it should raise flags when they ooh and ahh (24/7) over a politician, who, quite clearly, is also a Democrat with socialist views and a strong supporter of pro-abortion legislation, particularly the gruesome partial-birth abortion.

I hope that the American people are not blinded by the continual media hype, and make an opinion based on the issues instead of the smooth talking, decent looks, and over-all charm. I’ve been disappointed to hear even friends of mine mention that simply because Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. speaks well and looks good, that he would make the perfect leader, but when asked what they know about what he stands for, not one of them could give an answer. Apparently, to many, all it takes is appearance and performance, never mind actual accomplishments or experience.

But since I’ve brought up accomplishments, let me list a few measures that Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. backs.

He sponsored S.CON.RES.53: A concurrent resolution expressing the sense of Congress that any effort to impose photo identification requirements for voting should be rejected.

In 1999 he was the only Illinois State Senator to vote against a bill barring early release for (criminal) sex offenders.

He voted against filtering pornography on school and library computers and he voted for sex education for kindergarten children through the 5th grade.

Also, in 2001, he voted “present” on a bill to keep pornographic book and video stores and strip clubs from setting up within 1,000 feet of schools and churches.

Just as unsettling is his voting record on abortion.

Twice, Obama voted against bills prohibiting tax funding of abortions.

In February 2004, his wife, Michelle, sent out a fundraising letter, which actually stated her concern over the rise of conservatism in the Country, and that the ‘so-called’ partial-birth abortion was a legitimate medical procedure that should be protected.
In 2003, as chairman of the next Senate committee to which BAIPA (Born Alive Infants Protection Act) was sent, Obama prevented it from even getting a hearing. BAIPA, by the way, stated that all live-born babies were guaranteed the same constitutional right to equal protection, whether or not they were wanted.

In 2001, he voted “present” on a bill to notify parents when their minor children seek an abortion.

He voted against a cloning ban in 2000, but voted for it in 2001.

In 1997, Obama twice voted “present” on an Illinois partial-birth abortion ban.

For all that he is polished on the surface, his stand on the defenseless seems cold to the core and while I'm able to look past a politician personally, I strongly disapprove of what Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. stands for.
------SOURCE

Now I don't hide my pro-life views, I'll openly tell you every child deserves a life, it's just a basic moral of mine.. but regardless of how you view it, even if you think abortion is okay, partial birth abortion is SICK and MURDER

(I won't even get into his weird view that sex ed should begin in kindergarden)

yeah, i was just imagining like.. they really dont need to know sex exists quite yet
it really isn't something they should be formally taught about until about 6th grade in my opinion

5th grade is a good place to start for the introduction so for those who start a bit early can understand where things like wetdreams and their periods are coming from!

kindergarden is so early i couldnt imagine doing that to a child

As a Democrat who often votes for the Democrat candidates, I too hope Obama isn't elected. I just don't have enough confidence in the guy that he can get the job done. Yes, he's a great public speaker and yes he's got charisma...but I just don't think that's enough. And his catchphrase about "hoping for change" is getting a bit old. He's way too vague and not aggressive enough. People just seem to like him because he's a likeable guy - the underdog. If he wins the Democrat primary you can bet the nominated Republican will win the election.

First of all, Kevin...in those 5 minutes, what were you thinking???

As for the rest...

Quote:

Im sorry...como se what? A legitimate medical procedure? Is she on crack?

FLIP-FLOP!

Ash, dont you think 5th grade is a bit young for sex ed? I was 10 when I started the 5th grade. 10 year olds dont need to know about sex.

I think it was either 4th or 5th grade when they showed us the "sex ed" video. I really don't remember much, but it was pointless and I do agree too young. I then had to take that dumb sex ed class in 6th grade, and though the timing was better, still pointless in the sense that they taught absolutely nothing.

Well, personally, I was in Catholic school...so we got the "sex-ed" thing in the 8th grade. Ironically enough, it was taught by a hot Semanarian...lol.

But, although he went through everything that public schools do, the fundamental message was that sex=bad, abstinence=good.

But I also had good parents at home, who as soon as I hit puberty, made sure I knew the facts about sex.

I think that topic should be a parent's responsibility, not a school systems

I dont think its too young. it was grade 5/6 i started getting inrtoduced to it. and here sex ed isnt just the sex stuff but all the reproduction stuff. There are many girls and boys starting periods and having wetdreams in grade 5 and 6 and arent understanding it. They are ashamed and embarassed and i think some background at this age is normal. Plus with the mainstream media all around the world, someone has to educate the children properly otherwise its basically tv and other media doing it at that age with no other guidance, or what they hear from their friends.

Which goes back to what I said previously. Parents need to educate their children.

and I agree the parents have responsibility but doesnt mean they are actually going to step up to the plate and educate their children, especially when some of them are not educated themselves.

How many adults have kids and don't know all about sex? I mean, they'd kinda have to be experts to have a child, wouldn't they?
Formal education in K for sex is so weird to me, they're learning like their ABCs.. imagine the transitions "ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWX.. like sex, we'll get to that later, YZ, next time won't you sing with me?"

Yeah, seriously....kindergarten kids have a hard enough time learning to read, they need to learn about sex?!?! They're BABIES!!!

When I was in Kindergarten, I was just focused on writing numbers correctly. If they had tried teaching me about sex...I would have been like, "huh? what? huh?"

and you honestly expect 5 and 6 year olds to understand the intricacies of STDs and birth control?

Thats not educating them...its robbing them of their innocence.
