Stargate Universe

Is anyone going to try Stargate Universe when it starts this fall? I'm going to give it a chance because I'm a big fan of Stargate.

Stargate Universe series premiere is set for Friday, October 2 at 10/9c on SyFy channel.

I'm a Stargate fan, so I'll be there. I haven't read much about it, other than that they're going for a younger, hipper feel. That worries me a bit, but I think they'll be true to Stargate.

I can't wait either because I'm a huge Stargate fan. I started watching from the very beginning, when the original movie came out. Then I continued with SG-1, Atlantis and the 2 direct-to-DVD movies

I really, really loved the season premiere of Stargate Universe. This show is so good and fresh. I'm so excited to see the new episodes

I have never watched anything Stargate related

but I wanna watch this show... Should I know more about Stargate to watch this tv-series?

Stargate Universe is quite different from SG-1 and Atlantis and it has it's own story. The only things it has in common with the first 2 Stargate shows are the stargates (as in the devices)

and some characters that are appearing on the show now and then, like Gen. O'Neill

So far so good with SGU. It is a bit grittier than the prior Stargate shows, which is good. Not just more of the same. Time will tell if it can hold interest, and there is so many good shows on Friday night, it has tough competitors. Thank goodness for taping and internet episodes. No reason we can watch them all.
