I don't know if anyone here has watched the UK show Shameless but I have, it used to start James McAvoy in the first 2 series and the makers also made Skins too, but it's amazing, to me anyways, and is due to start another series next January in which it'll be series 8 and celebrating its 100th episode.

i found out today that the US has made a version of Shameless due to air next January so I was intrigued, i've not been a fan of what I've seen of US Skins but I youtubed the promo to see what it's like and i'm unsure of it. The cast looks well set up, but I'm rather worried it'll be cleaned up and won't have the same grittiness as UK Shameless has, here's the promo:

The show hasn't actually aired yet, it premiers on 9th january, I was wondering whether from what you've seen in the preview anyone would be watching.

i have verizon on demand you the first episode is already up in the showtime section. i watched it last night, i wasnt impressed. i love the cast but i dunno i just couldnt get into the show. im hoping the second episode will be better

i didnt know there was a uk version. i never heard of the show till about 2 weeks ago when i started seeing ads for the show starting here

Hmmm, I can't say I'm surprised. i don't think i'll enjoy it to be honest as I adore the UK version too much and think the cast makes the whole thing real, it's a brilliant show if it's your kind of thing and it's a massive hit in the UK, but I don't think the same will happen in the US if I'm honest.

I don't know is 4OD on Youtube is for UK only but they have the show on there, I'd assume it'd be blocked though?

I really enjoyed the British version, but I just saw the American version and I think they did a very good job. Pretty much exact same story lines, but great translation and performances.

Wow! I am so glad that I gave this show a chance! When the previews started surfacing, I was very interested in the show. However, I'm one of those types that doesn't care very much for regular sex on television shows, so I was hoping this wouldn't be that way [due to it's mature rating]. Not yet had I committed to a series on HBO or Showtime so this way my first.

Seriously, everyone in this small town of ours should see this show! There's a guy in my life like Frank - my dad. Though unlike Fiona I have given up on him a long, long time ago, it's nice to see someone else with a dad like that! Passed out drunk, not remembering what they did the night before. Fiona is such a great character - like the mom figure. Then there is every single sibling who all have their little flaws - it's hard not to be reminded of someone somewhere in your life! Joan Cusack guest starred - nice including her in the opening! Is Ian into guys? Will Frank ever change? Will this guy be Fiona's love or will her hurt her? Not too big of a fan of the neighbors but her, it's only the first episode!

I'm liking this more and more with every episode. Emmy Rossum and the whole cast are fantastic. Showtime did a superb job with this adaptation.

I watched of the first episode, it was pretty much play by play of the UK Shameless so far, I think it's weird since UK Shameless is one of my favourite shows so watching the US version is odd right now. I'm going to try and give it a go again, maybe it's just a bit too similar at first but I hear the plot doesn't stay the same. At least I hope it doesn't.
