Thumbs up Movies you love that aren't on the radar...

Have you ever watched a movie, loved it, watched it a few more times, decided you're going to buy it, and then not been able to find it to rent or buy ANYWHERE?

Have you ever watched a movie a thousand times, and then mentioned it to your friends, and they have NO IDEA WHAT MOVIE YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT?

This thread is for those movies. The movies that you all love and think the rest of us will love as well. I don't mean Twilight (and I love Twilight everything) or The Dark Knight, ect. - no blockbuster movies here, please. I'm talking about hard-to-find or most-people-you-know-have-never-heard-of-it movies.

MY first two entries?

1. Keith : released in 2008 - Starring Jesse McCartney

*spoiler alert - if you search for this movie do NOT watch the trailer, it will ruin the movie because it gives so much of it away*

I came across this movie on Netflix and fell in love with it. Even shared it with my mil and she loves it. Ended up having to buy it off of ebay because I couldn't find it anywhere.

2. Graduation : released in 2007 - Starring Shannon Lucio, Riley Smith, (and if you are a Private Practice fan - my reason for renting this movie in the first place,) and Chris Lowell as well.
(Haven't tried to find this yet but I will be looking soon!)

So share, and share alike, my friends!

The acting was first class all around in my opinion, the movie could've so easily gone overboard with bad-acting considering the general plot of the movie, but never once did I find myself irritated by the lead female. The casting was perfect, and I was absolutely charmed by the characters of Jun-ho and the hilarious Tae-su. There were also a lot of comical elements in the movie which had me laughing off my sofa, making the characters endlessly endearing. The film takes us through a journey of many years in the past from when the characters' parents first meet, and had me bawling my eyes out at the end. The modern day story is just as good too. The film also finishes with what I consider two big surprises which had me thinking about the movie for ages afterwards.
I am going to look for it now on netflix.

Netflix suggested this movie to me a few days ago and I added it to my queue. I'm glad to know that it's good! I haven't watched anything about it yet- now I know not to! Thanks! :]

Paris Je T'aime
I love the movie Paris, Je t'aime. It's not really obscure or anything, but pretty much no one that I know really watches Indie films. I love stories that intertwine and this one tells several different intertwined stories. It's kinda like a collection of short films, but they all relate to one another. It's got some really great actors and actresses in it.

Wristcutters: A Love Story
Wristcutters: A Love Story was also a really intriguing Sundance movie from 2006. The movie feels really quaint, but the story is very compelling. The music to this movie makes it all the better.

You're SO going to have to tell me what you think of it. I had to buy it since it was so hard to find around here - can't wait for my copy to come in the mail! =) And I'm going to check out the two you mentioned

Cool. I've got so many movies added to my Netflix queue it won't let me add anymore! Haha. I am willing to watch just about anything!

Here's my Netflix friend ID if you want to add me. I love to see other people's recommendations and ratings.

The Station Agent is a good, pretty unknown movie. Some parts are sad but the characters are great.

I love The Station Agent. 'Death At A Funeral' is similarly great. I remember seeing 'King of Hearts' first run with Alan Bates and Genevieve Bujold. Liquid Sky and Freeway (with a foul mouthed Reese Witherspoon and a YOUNG Keifer Sutherland) are also gems.

But my favorite obscure is the drag queen classic 'Girls will be Girls'. You gotta see it. My favorite sequence:

Q: "Have YOU ever had an abortion?"
A: "Honey, I've had more kids pulled outta me than a burning orphange".

OUCH!!!!

I just added Paris, Je T'aime to my netflix queue- probably going to watch it instantly. Sounds good. Someone else recently recommended it so thanks for the reminder!

I LOVED both The Station Agent and Paris Je T'aime, both of those movies were absolutely fantastic. I also liked a little known movie called Freeway (I think thats the name) with Reese Witherspoon and Kiefer Sutherland. I can't find that in many places, either.

I've managed (after a few years of searching) to collect all my moves that used to fit in this category! but i would say that Baby Boom (an 80's movie w/ Diane Keaton, was the hardest to find and i ADORE that movie, but people are forever telling me they've never heard of it
