Harry was picked up as a regular for season three back at the beginning of season two, so it's really just Darren that got picked up. I would be upset on Chord's behalf but not worried about his future on the show if not for the fact that it was said he MIGHT make guest appearances on the show... and that he tweeted about having a good year but "now it's over." That doesn't sound like someone who is coming back. Plus it was reported he was clearly upset during the last Glee tour shows and the cast were loving all over him.
And, yes, I am definitely worried about what kind of ending he would get and honestly my guess? Will walks into the room and announces that sadly Sam had to move, but it's okay because Blaine has inexplicably transferred to McKinley. Sigh. So please at least sign the petition (now over 12,000!) and if you can spare $1.29 or more, buy Billionaire. Sadly money seems to be what FOX and the writers care about now, after what happened with Darren and Teenage Dream. A LOT of mainstream press have been reporting on the fans efforts to save Sam and how upset everyone is, so we are being heard.

According to articles out today, Sam may not be leaving. The writers plan on keeping him but it would be up to Chord to decide if he wanted to stay or not. By not exercising their option to make him a regular, it becomes Overstreet's decision not Glee's on whether or not Sam sticks around. It is clear that the fans voices over this are being heard though.

Yay, that is good news! Hopefully someone who isn't an anonymous source will speak up soon. Here's the relevant info from TV Line...

Yeah, that's what I didn't understand about them saying they were letting Chord go in the first place. Sam is a lot more developed than Mike or Blaine. He has personal relationships with almost everyone, we've seen his home life, etc. All we really know about Mike is he can dance and he dates Tina. And Blaine really only has scenes with Kurt and his character seems to change with every episode.
Harry's status was announced a long time ago, so it wasn't like that came as a surprise. I think he also helps do choreography for the show, so I can get rewarding him. But some of the press are like "Harry paid his dues, so now Chord has to" which, okay, if that's your argument... why doesn't anyone seem to think Darren has to pay his? Chord was in all but one episode this season, while Darren was in something like 13? And the Dalton scenes were filmed one day a week, while everyone else on the show was working nearly every day, sometimes until 5 in the morning. So... yeah. I don't get that.Whatever though, that's Hollywood for you. I'm just glad the fans made so much noise and the press picked up on it and started calling out FOX. Now they are saying it's up to Chord, so hopefully he goes back.

I was going to say, it sounded too weird 'it's his choice' erm, surely if the character is to be in the new season, you need to let the actor know when the rest of the cast know they've been made regulars? I mean how can they even backtrack on this, they're basically dropping Chord or making his role significantly less, either way, they're losing good character plots and storylines!

I believe Chord is playing in a charity game this weekend, so he'll probably have to do some press for that... Hopefully he'll clarify what's going on or at least say if he'll be in season three.

So, it's unfortunately official:
Chord Overstreet will NOT be returning to "Glee" AT ALL. I'm really disturbed right now. Like...I want SOMEONE (Ryan, Ian, Brad, Chord...) to come out and give us a legitimate explanation because vaguely saying that there are "reasons" isn't enough. They're (RIB and Chord) eliminating a hugely popular character and a drastically developed character and they're not saying why. It's just disturbing. Honestly. Also, can we take a second to fully appreciate their backtracking on Rachel/Finn/Kurt/the rest of the graduates not leaving the show for good after they graduate? Because they've been saying for the past year that once they graduate, they'll be gone except for maybe an occasional guest appearance. Now they'll definitely be back in season four and, from the sound of it, they'll be back as major characters. Honestly, I hate Ryan Murphy, Ian Brennan, and Brad Flachuk. Can we trade them for real, competent showrunners? PLEASE? |
