BeachDreaming, yes but there are several reasons why it only 10
1.Mark Pedowitz wanted it over at Christmas break,probably to put on new Midseason shows.Carrie Diaries will take GGs timeslots in Jan. 2.The actors have said they hate thier characters/the show,they want it to end so they can do other projects 3.Its ratings last spring were awful one 0.4 in demo, under a million viewers four to five times.Its ratings didn't justify 13 episodes 4.Even fans/viewers want it to/think it should end 5.Therell be less "filler" episodes, no dragging sl out too long,ect. Like in cable shows I'm glad we get season six and am sad its the final one but am excited to see how it ends. 6.Mark Pedowitz wants to get rid of all the teen girl soapy girly shows/move away from the young women's demo & turn CW into a scifi/fantasy network (Cult,Beauty& Beast, Alice in Wonderland and Sleepy Hollow scifi/fantasy cop shows and he admitted looking only VD, SpN,Nikita on the network.
