Girl w/ the Dragon Tattoo

Very, very good film - but probably too dark for the masses. David Fincher (a favorite director of mine) has taken on the American remake... which I guess is needed because Americans can't read(?) Anyway, like it or lump it, it's happening. Anyone who's seen the original (or read the book) have any casting wishes?

I'm really hoping for an unknown for the main character... please not Kristen Stewart or Natalie Portman.

Americans can read subtitles. I enjoy reading them and actually prefer them as some films are better in their original version. I've heard a little about this movie, and depending on who is cast as the main character will determine if I view it in it's theater life. I know you're saying not Natalie or Kristen, but quite honestly they're the best two (in my opinion) for the role out of the four actresses producers are looking into. I personally think Stewart has the looks for the role, it's just still up in the air to me if she can pull off certain types of acting genres.

I really enjoyed this movie and can't wait to see the sequels and the American remake. I think it would probably be better with an unknown as Lisbeth. I could kind of picture Natalie Portman in the role, but I don't think Kristen Stewart should be cast- she's already got the Twilight franchise, I don't think she needs another big franchise right now. Plus I don't think Kristen would be comfortable with another huge hit like that, she seems to be more comfortable with independent movies.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo officially has a confirmed actress for the lead role. And it is none of the ones we thought it to be sadly! Rooney Mara is the confirmed lead. Who is she? Mara is best known for playing Nancy in the remake of A Nightmare On Elm Street. To be honest, I'm not too happy with their choice. I personally thought her role as Nancy was played terribly. I'm willing to give her a second chance in opinion of character with this film though...let's just hope she doesn't help bomb this remake as it has potential to be an amazing Box Office hit.

I'm really excited for Rooney Mara to play the lead role because she's a fresh face. Although, I would have loved for Carey Mulligan to do it, I am excited to watch it!

Not a bad choice casting a relatively unknown... but my concern is that with Rooney, it appears Fincher is going to "girl" her up for this remake where the original actress was far more androgenous.

I just wonder if it does the book any justice? I worry about that with the Hunger Game triology too.
