Did You Know There Was A Sequel To....
When a movie is a big hit at in the theaters, it's no surprise that a sequel gets made. But some sequels bomb and should never have been made. Some stinker sequels are notorious (like GREASE 2 or EXORCIST 2), some fade into oblivion. Here is a list of a few sequels that genuinely exist that you'd be surprised at how many people don't know exist--but they really DO!
THE STING 2 (withOUT Robert Redford or Paul Newman) CARRIE 2: THE RAGE (withOUT Sissy Spacek) BUTCH AND SUNDANCE: THE EARLY YEARS (actually a prequel to BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID withOUT Newman or Redford) KING KONG LIVES (sequel to the 1976 remake...King Kong gets an artificial heart, meets Lady Kong and has Baby Kong!! REALLY!!) BEYOND THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE (sequel to the original film, but with a completely different cast including Telly Savalas, Michael Caine and Sally Field!) There are lots of others out there. Can you think of any? Last edited by SuperMommy; 06-06-2012 at 07:56 PM. |

Exorcist 2: The Heretic owns this thread. Exorcist 3 was quite good.
Speed 2 is my close runner up. Um..........how slow is a cruise ship? Not exactly what I picture when I think of speed. Those floating cities barely chug along - it was laughable. |

There were TWO versions of Part 4. The original Part 4 the studio hated and reshot a whole new movie, which was "Exorcist: The Beginning" (I think that was the title). I thought it was awful. When they released the shelved version ("Dominion") in a limited amount of theaters, I drove 3 hours away to see it...and was floored that it was truly WORSE than the released version ("Exorcist: The Beginning") -- despite what the fanbots had been saying about it being so great. YAWN! I mean, besides myself and a poor friend I dragged along with me, there was ONE other person in the theater...and he was snoring! Seriously! It was THAT bad! There's a little known sequel to A Christmas Story called My Summer Story. I have no idea if it's any good, but since I found out about it, I've been curious to watch it.

I got my copy of the "Christmas Story" sequel, "A Summer Story"... I have NOT seen it yet, but the cast is entirely different! Hmmm... By the way, I just thought of the Bill Murray movie "Meatballs". Everyone knows there were sequels to "Ghostbusters" and "Caddyshack"...but did you know there were at least 3 sequels to "Meatballs" (NONE with Bill Murray, of course...but one did feature an ET-like alien...and another featured a sexy ghost woman, I THINK). Not that the these count as movie sequels, but I know "What's Up, Doc?", "Animal House" and "Westworld" (which DID have the sequel film "Futureworld") all had TV series spin-offs. I remember the "What's Up Doc?" show--but don't recall the title (still "What's Up, Doc?"??? I don't know). "Animal House"'s TV incarnation was as "Delta House". "Westworld" had "Beyond Westworld". "logan's Run" also became a TV series. Even "Saturday Night Fever" (which had a sequel film, "Stayin' Alive") had a TV version called "Makin' It". Last edited by Maddy; 12-21-2011 at 12:31 PM. |
