I just saw "JOHN CARTER" (in 3D). The 3D extra price was soooo NOT worth it, but the movie as a whole wasn't bad. I am not a science fiction fan--ugh!--but I had read the book this was based on YEARS ago, liked it and decided to see it. Despite all of the negative reports about it's "failing" and poor box office, I thought it was pretty good. (I'd give it a "B+" or an 8/10. It did remind me though of another mega-budget "dud" from 1980 (which I also saw in the theater), "Flash Gordon", only NOT as campy/cheesy.

PoC: On Stranger Tides - 7/10.

I just wasn't into it as much as I was w/ the 1st 3. It was good to see more of a storyline for Jack Sparrow, but he wasn't as funny to me again as he was in the 1st 3. The mermaids were cool, though I thought they had a vampire sense to them. I don't know if I liked that as much.

^My son, wanted to see it when they 1st started airing the previews, but now he says he doesn't. I kinda of want to see it myself... and I might just wait til it comes out on DVD. And lol on your comment about "Flash Gordon", I just recently re-watched it.

Melancholia 7/10. I'm a big von trier fan so i was probably expecting more. Great opening scene in the limo but the extended wedding scene just lost me. i guess i'm getting cynical, i don't like as many movies as i used to. worth a look, i guess the straight guys will like the extended nudity from kirsten dunst (she does have a fantastic body).

It was pretty hilarious. I rated it a 7 because the story line wasn't that great. The characters are very relatable (sp?) though.
And I love the dog. haha

Carnage 8/10. Way better than I anticipated. I wish I'd seen it live when it was here. I didn't think I'd like it due to the premise - parents arguing after their kids have a playground fight. It was fantastic. Jodie Foster and Kate Winslet were perfect. I'd love to have seen the original B-way cast. Funny, wicked, witty, devastating, unforgettable romp.

the hunger games 8/10. i enjoyed the movie alot, but i think if i had read the books beforehand i would have understood what was going on a little better. the movie was 2 1/2 hrs and a little slow in parts.
