Movie Franchises That Need To Stop.
Which are the movie franchise you think should stop?
In my opinion these are few: 1. Final Destination - because the series has nothing originality left in it. 2. Scary Movie - because they are just not funny anymore. 3. Twilight Saga - because ... just because :P Do you guys have any other series in mind, do you agree with my list? |

The Twilight saga is based on books so they have an end whether Summit likes it or not, thus not counting.
Also I think Final Destination DID end. I have only seen the second but my cousin was saying once how she confuses the first and the LAST because the last only adds a 'the' to the title 'The Final Destination'. I agree that they didn't need so many though, my cousin also said that they all basically do the same thing. A group of people survive some kind of deadly accident and then get picked off one by one for cheating death. Apparently they are always different people and a different accident but repeating that basic idea would still get uninteresting after a while. For me, the buddies series needs to stop, there must be like 20 of them now and they are getting annoying an unrealistic. They shouldn't be remaining puppies for as long as the time span of the films. In fact Air Bud really didn't need a sequel at all. Thankfully High School Musical seemed to stop at 3, IMO it could have stopped at 1. From the small portion of the second one I saw it seemed to have the same basic storyline as the first. Efron and Hudgens want to do a show, Efron is jerk so his basketball buddies won't laugh at him, hudgens is heartbroken, Efron realizes he was a jerk and apologies, everyone does the show and lives happily ever after. Then there was a third, what the ****? I also hope Land Before Time has had it's last installment, there must be 100 of those by now just like the buddies. I LOVE the first one, even the second one is pretty good although not a good as the first. I used to have a LBT fetish as a child but after about four it started having too many. Oh and Ice Age so needed to stop after two. Four is WAY too much. Obviously they are desperate with the fourth one since they have all these big name voices for it. That should be a red flag that the film should not have been made.

I can agree somewhat there, Jim Colyer. I don't understand why 'Iron Man' is getting a third installment.
Oh and I forgot about Shrek. That needed to stop at two IMO, even the Puss n Boots spin off was not very good.

I'd keep Resident Evil just for the production values. The films are stupid but the special effects are consistent and well done. A friend of mine has worked on 2 of these films. I'd like to see him gainfully employed!

There are way too many movie sequels and franchises these days, at least IMO. It is getting insane, a movie isn't even out in theaters and they are already talking about sequels. Sometimes it is nice to sit and watch a movie, and have the storyline wrap up in a hour and a half or two. I admit to being in the minority though, as I am not into the super hero franchise, used to like the Spider man one when I was in college, but that phrase passed thankfully.

Pretty much all the animated movies with inevitable sequels. Besides a few like Toy Story and Shrek, they're usually pretty terrible. And don't even get me started on the straight to DVD Disney movies like Cinderella 2 - awful.
