Watchmen

Synopsis: A complex, multi-layered mystery adventure, Watchmen is set in an alternate 1985 America in which costumed superheroes are part of the fabric of everyday society, and the Doomsday Clock -- which charts the USA's tension with the Soviet Union -- moves closer to midnight.

When one of his former colleagues is murdered, the outlawed but no less determined masked vigilante Rorschach sets out to uncover a plot to kill and discredit all past and present superheroes. As he reconnects with his former crime-fighting legion -- a disbanded group of retired superheroes, only one of whom has true powers -- Rorschach glimpses a wide-ranging and disturbing conspiracy with links to their shared past and catastrophic consequences for the future.

Their mission is to watch over humanity...but who is watching the Watchmen?

I watched it last night and it was great! It was played pretty much the whole book. I mean they missed a couple of scenes, but they weren't important, so it was good when it came to following the graphic novel. I loved it, but I did read the book, so I knew what was coming. But for those who never read the book, you really need to pay attention to the movie very closely because there's a lot that goes on in the story and the fact that there's like flashbacks and stuff. But it's a very good movie.

Yeah, the movie was nearly 3 hours long. Totally worth it because like I said, they visioned the exact way that the book did.

It's a little less than 3 hours. Maybe 2 hours and 40 some mins? It's never boring though!

Yeah, I believe it was like 2 hours and 45 minutes. But it was worth it, since most of the things in the graphic novel was portrayed in the movie, so definetly worth it.

A lot of people have been disappointed because there wasn't enough violence in the movie. I was okay with that. And the fact that they talked more than violence. I think that's why Watchmen is such a great movie/novel because they don't describe the "superhero" that everyone suspects, like a Superman or a Batman. Hopefully I made sense. The storyline and the story behind it all is what makes the whole story sooo great! People really don't know that at all apparently.

I'm still unclear if besides Dr. Manhattan, the other heroes had actual supernatural powers or were humans?

Dr. Manhattan is the only superhero that actually has superpowers. Everyone else doesn't have any superpowers; they only have the ability to fight. Hence why this is a great story to show us the differences between superpowers and super human powers, I guess you can say and how they affect yourself, hence Dr. Manhattan having no human feelings for the world, etc.

Maybe I should go see the movie. It sounds good. I didn't know it was a book. I knew it was a comic book.

Well it was a graphic novel. And you should definetly check it out, although make sure you pay close attention to it because apparently, you can easily be confused.
