American Pickers
Mike and Frank, the American Pickers. This show air right before my favorite show on the History Channel, and I was also introduced to it by my boyfriend. I absolutely love it! If you're into finding out the value of old and collector items, this show is for you. Basically, the show is centered around these two guys who own a business as 'pickers'. And what are pickers? Pickers are people who establish a career basically by searching through the dust and rust of old items in garages and packhouses, or just anywhere where collectors reside, to find pieces that they can get for a great price (say 100 for example), and resell for mainstream price (say 300). Someones old Pepsi Cola 1953 Sign that been collecting dust can be another last addition to their sign collection. What attracts me to the show is the items they find (a large number being gas, oil and soda items), and learning the history of them and going prices. I guess Im very interested in memorabilia and its history and how such things can age and become more valuable with time. This shows airs on the History Channel Mondays at 9pm. Anyone else interested in American Pickers? Ive never heard of this job as a career before...very interesting!

I watch it, but not all the time. Sometimes it's hard to watch, when I feel they're taking advantage of someone, but for the most part they're pretty honest with people about the real value of things. I just don't understand how they sell any of the stuff because they're always busy riding around, looking for picks.

Oh my gosh, my husband is so addicted to this show. He watches every episode of American Pickers and Pawn owners. He is trying to get up the nerve to walk up to people places and ask if they have old junk they want to sell. LOL He and and co workers think they are going to be the American Pickers of our area. It cracks me up, but it gives them something to be passionate about, so I am down.
