First, getting all my ducks in a row; Link to Old Thread is here: Old Thread - I actually suppose that we could still post NEW videos in that one, as this thread is being created for the music video CONTEST purpose. So... yeah.

TO THE MODS: We didn't know where exactly to post this thread. Here, or in the OT Spammage section. So if need be, you can move it. We weren't sure.

Alright here we go, without further ado -

Who's in the mood for a contest?

Some of this has all been explained in the old thread, but I will sort it all out here. Hopefully I'll cover everything, get it right and won't leave anything out. I can't promise though, so here we go.

PLEASE READ BEFORE ENTERING CONTEST

Contest Rules and Regulations

THIS CONTEST IS OPEN TO ALL POSTERS. IF YOU AREN'T AN AUTHOR AND/OR DON'T WANT TO SUBMIT A VIDEO, BUT WANT TO TAKE PART IN THIS CONTEST, YOU CAN BE A VOTER. ANY POSTER CAN VOTE.

1. ANYONE can submit videos. If YOU make it, you can submit it. ABSOLUTELY NO PLAGERLISM of videos. If it's NOT yours, DO NOT submit it. It is lawfully wrong to take credit for others' work.

2. A MAXIMUM of 3 videos per author is allowed. No more. You can submit less however.

3. Video submissions will be taken by sending your LINK and A VIDEO DESCRIPTION by PM to OC gurlie101. OC gurlie will then POST the video links into another post in this thread.

4. Once it comes time for a poster to vote, the votes will be SUBMITTED to OC gurlie through PM. So that the vote will remain SECRET and PRIVATE to everyone but OC gurlie, who will than be in charge of COUNTING the votes as she recieves them.

The goal here is so that NO ONE will know WHO THE OTHER VOTES FOR. That way we can try to keep this contest fair and free from argument. OC gurlie will not be submitting any videos, so there's no worry that she could cheat and vote for herself. In fact, IF OC gurlie wants to take part in the voting process, SHE AND ONLY SHE, will HAVE to ANNOUNCE her votes onto this thread, so that WE ALL KNOW who/which video she votes for, again, to avoid the risk of cheating accusations.

DO NOT announce on this thread, who/which video you voted for. That is to remain PRIVATE, only yourself and oc gurlie will know who you voted for. ONCE the contest is over, THAN you may say who/what you voted for, but NOT BEFORE.

IMPORTANT READ: Authors entered into the contest CANNOT VOTE. In other words, I'm going to enter myself and 3 of my videos into this contest. So I CAN'T VOTE. Not for myself and NOT FOR ANYONE ELSE.

5. There will be 4 rounds:

1st - The first round being the submissons of the videos by any video author interested. This round will START tomarrow, that is, Friday December 30th and it will RUN UNTIL Monday, January 2nd. That leaves anyone interested 4 days to submit 3 videos of THEIR CHOICE to OC gurlie.

2nd - The second round will start on Tuesday January 3rd. Once all the video links have been posted in this thread, posters interested can begin downloading and watching the videos submitted. This round will last for 7 days, 1 week. However - the time alloted for this round is subject to change DEPENDING on the AMOUNT of video submissions we recieve. Meaning, it could be LESS than a week if there aren't too many videos to download. But if there ARE a good number of videos, we want the voters to have enough time to watch them all.

3rd - The third round will begin once the downloading and watching of the videos has commenced. This is the first round of voting. Every author entered into the contest will have 3 videos - in this voting round the posters will VOTE to KEEP 1 video PER AUTHOR in the contest.

For example: If there are 5 authors in the contest, with 3 videos each, that's 15 videos. Once the voter has watched ALL 15 videos, they must than SUBMIT a vote for 1 video per author. So during this round, the poster will vote for EACH author in the contest, voting for their FAVORITE VIDEO OUT OF THE 3 SUBMITTED, BY THAT SPECIFIC AUTHOR. The video by each other with the MOST VOTES STAYS IN THE CONTEST, the video with the LEAST VOTES is eliminated. By the end of this voting process, each author should have 1 video left.

So than, if there are 5 authors entered into the contest, and ALL BUT ONE of their videos has been eliminated by votes, there are 5 videos left. That is when the 4th, and Final round of voting will begin.

4th - Once there is ONE video REMAINING for EACH AUTHOR - the poster can vote AGAIN - but this time NOT for their FAVORITE VIDEO BY AN AUTHOR but for their FAVORITE VIDEO OVERALL OUT OF THE REMAINING. Make sense?

6. IMPORTANT: You can ONLY vote ONCE per author and per video. That means NO MULTIPLE VOTES for a SPECIFIC AUTHOR and/or VIDEO. Once you've voted for a video in that round, that's it. To clearify this; In the 3rd round of voting, you CAN submit MULTIPLE VOTES to Oc gurlie thru PM - HOWEVER you can ONLY vote ONCE PER VIDEO PER AUTHOR in ONE ROUND. So NO MORE than ONE VOTE for a video in each given round. You CAN vote in BOTH rounds, but just ONCE in EACH ROUND. Than you can ONLY VOTE ONE TIME in the FINAL and LAST VOTE for the video of YOUR CHOICE that you'd like to see win OVERALL. Also the voter MUST VOTE for EVERY AUTHOR. NO show of favortism towards a specific video and/or author is allowed. Understand?

Videos are to be JUDGED and VOTED FOR because of THEIR CONTENT AND CREATIVE ASPECT. DO NOT partake in the voting process if you're going to VOTE for a video BECAUSE it's of Ryan and Marissa and they're your favorite couple and/or because the author of that video is a friend of yours.

THOSE ARE NOT GOOD REASONS TO VOTE.

VOTE FOR THE VIDEOS BASED SOLEY ON CONTENT AND CREATIVITY.

We would APPRECIATE IT if posters voted for THOSE reasons and NOT BECAUSE OF PERSONAL INTEREST in a certain relationship in a particular video and/or friendship of a fellow author who's submitted into the contest.

If we get word that a poster is voting for ANY OTHER reason than that BASED SOLEY on the video IN IT'S COMPLETE ENTIRETY, than that vote will be DISREGARDED. We want to AVOID the show of FAVORTISM TO A SPECIFIC AUTHOR/AND OR VIDEO, BY ALL MEANS!

Finally, I believe that covers all the rules and regulations. Phew. I had to double and triple check this to make sure I covered everything that I can remember.

OC Gurlie if I've neglected to mention anything else, please feel free to tell me. There was ALOT for me to remember to add in tonight. I just wanted to get the important contest rules covered.

Alright so, the FIRST round BEGINS TOMARROW.

Starting from Friday December 30th - Monday January 2nd we will be ACCEPTING SUBMISSONS.

If you are an author and would like to submit 3 of your best videos or 3 videos ENTIRELY of YOUR CHOICE, PM them to OC gurlie101 on THIS FORUM.

The DEADLINE for this contest is Monday NIGHT, January 2nd. So pretty much, authors have UNTIL Tuesday January 3rd to submit videos. Remember to submit both VIDEO LINKS and A VIDEO DESCRIPTION thru your PM to OC gurlie.

Once ALL the videos have been submitted by the authors who are interested and/or the deadline comes up, the next round will begin.

So - We encourage ALL AUTHORS to JOIN IN!!! We have 4 days to enter some videos into this contest!

MOST IMPORTANTLY: WE WANT THIS TO BE FUN FOR ALL INVOLVED!!!

If anyone has any other questions, don't be shy to post a reply in this thread and ask away. I'll do my best to answer, or anyone else who is in the know. Although, I'm hoping I covered most of any of the questions one might have regarding this contest.

Also, ANYONE who is voting or will be WATCHING the videos can POST COMMENTS about the videos into this thread - but they just can't say who/what video they VOTED FOR. So, NO DISCUSSION OF VOTES IS ALLOWED.

Any other discussions like comments on the videos, questions, etc ... can be discussed freely in this thread.

Ladyvade you might want to tell the people that are going to submit videos what program to use: megaupload, yousendit etc.

yeah i was just gonna say that yousendit only allows like 7 downloads or 7 days i think so i think everyone sould use megaupload..even though it takes forever to download....that way more people can download each video and vote fairly

and pm all videos and votes to Oc_gurlie101 <thats how you spell it

Okay yes, I should mention that alot of posters prefer yousendit.com to download the videos - HOWEVER - there IS a 7 day and/or 25 download limit. So, for this contest authors who are interested in submitting their videos should upload them to Megaupload.com

I know that some people have problems downloading from that service, but it will work best in this case because of yousendit.com's download and time restrictions, with Megaupload having no time or download restriction(s) that I'm aware of. So please, if you guys won't be bothered, I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't mind downloading from Megaupload. At least just this once.

Hiya Marcy!

Actually you can just go ahead and send the link to the videos on your Putfile page. It'd be GREAT if you could join this contest! It's open to all and we'll take as many authors that are interested!

Putfile.com and Megaupload.com are both reliable, restriction-free services that shouldn't be a bother to most of the posters who will be watching and voting. So feel free to send the links to your putfile videos, either Putfile or Megaupload, doesn't matter. As long as in the end, people get to watch them.

Oh - and right, Oc_gurlie101 - I should probably get her name spelled right in order for us all to send her PMs! Haha. So yes, that's who we'll be sending our video links and votes to.

Oh, well as far as the description goes, it doesn't have to be very long at all. For example, something like this, would do fine:

{Name of the Video:} You're Beautiful
{Description of Video:} Ryan/Kirsten video. Ryan's POV on how he's come to love and admire Kirsten as the mother figure in his life.
{Optional description of song/singer:} Song Is You're Beautiful by James Blunt

(You don't have to make it all in BOLD either. I just did that to examplify a sort of description that one could use, and make it clear enough to understand.)

So just something like that. No need to go all out. Just describe which character/relationship is in the video - if people are interested they'll download the video for nothing more than just because they're interested in the video itself.

At least that's what I do. But I REALLY LOVE to watch music videos. So I'm a bit biased in that way, I suppose. LOL

Of course in this contest's sake, people who want to vote have to watch EVERY video. Without exception.

So as far as description goes - that's about it. Keep it short and sweet if you like.
