That was really fast. Thank you, Jim. I said in the episode thread how nice it was to see the girls acting normal again, and a happy Lorelai was a treat! That EPB was really at work with the promo, wasn't he?

Anyone else thought Anna was completely out of line and character? From what we've seen of her so far it doesnt seem she would be the type to go bananas over something that doesnt make sense to me. It seemed so contrived that she was upset about the situation. Ugh.

Paris. is. awesome. no other words for her...

Colin and Finn are just yummmmm!! Gotta love em!

I also put this up on FF.

A Speculation for Rory and Logan

I went back and looked at the Miriam Casting Side - what I was interested in was the Scene Header description. We have been told (spoiled) that the last three scenes sequences for the Finale are: Lorelai showing up at Chris' door saying she's had a crappy day. - The Rory-Logan Goodbye scene and then the Infamous Lorelai in bed with Christopher.

The Scene Header description for the start of Scene 31 (Lorelai in Bed) beides saying the it's the beddromm of Chris' apartment - the Time says Same Time - Morning (Day 2).

This would mean that Logan's and Rory's Goodbye scene in also in the morning of Day 2. We can make a speclative guess that the actual time of day is between 6 - 8 AM. I base this guess on the fact that G.G. is being made ready for school and the Nanny (Miriam) is going to take her there.

Now - some past story plotting traits of Amy's are parallelism and analogies. Take this end of the Finale - it is reversed from Season 4. Lorelai is in bed and has had sex with a married man.

So for Rory and Logan: what if they are saying Goodbye in this early morning time - also in bed or just out of one. They are talking about or professing their Love and commitment to each other. And this time maybe we are made to believe that Logan means it. And as Lorelai became unengaged a bit earlier - Rory and Logan become engaged. - Logan heads for the airport in the family limo or takes a cab - End Scene. A Sad but, Happy place - and somewhere to start for Season 7.

Parallelism and Analogies.

And then we move on to the Scene that takes us to the opposite emotional extreme.

Idle thoughs late at night.

Not contrived, mirror-like. Lorelai never used to let Rory meet guys she dated. In 1.08:

LORELAI: See, I have really strict rules about dating. I keep my personal life totally separate from my life with Rory. You know, I never want her to feel unsettled or like her life could just shift at any moment.
MAX: I totally understand. . .

RORY: I don't remember ever there being a man in our house.
LORELAI: Yeah, well, I kind of broke the rules. . .

LORELAI: I, uh. . .we had one date. It was a great date, World Series level. But it was just a date. Honey, I promised myself a long time ago that I was gonna keep all this stuff separate from you, and I want you to know that that still stands, okay? This was a one-time thing. I'm not gonna start just bringing guys home. This is not a trend.

In 1.20, when Rory was 16, Lorelai didn't even tell her that she runited with Max:

RORY: You've been talking to my mom?
MAX: Well yes.
RORY: Since when?
MAX: Its been a couple, 3 weeks now I guess.
RORY: Are you dating?
MAX: No, not really, I mean we were talking about possibly this weekend having dinner. You didn't know anything about this, did you? (Rory shakes head her head no) Well the look on your face makes perfect sense now. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to spring this on you like this.
RORY: Its fine, don't worry about it.
MAX: I'm sure your mom was gonna tell you soon.
RORY: I'm sure too.

Yes, but there's a HUGE difference between someone you're dating and your fiance.

You shouldn't let children meet the dates because these are likely just passing figures in your life, and don't need to be passing figures in theirs. You should let them meet the fiance, because it's kind of weird to wake up one day and hear "Meet your new stepmommy!"

ETA: Here's all thing Gilmore from this week's Ausiello. The only real spoiler in the mix is the bit about Rory and Logan's good-bye:
Quote:
Question: Great interview with Team Palladino. You asked all the questions I wanted answers to. It still hurts and it still sucks, but at least I understand better now. Good work, my friend. — Annie

Ausiello: Thanks for that. Many of you have been asking for my reaction to the interview and, honestly, the whole thing just breaks my heart. It wasn't until Amy started talking about those infamous last two (now four) words that it finally hit me: They're really leaving. Up until that point, I was enjoying my comfy-cozy suite at Denial Inn. For better or worse, Gilmore Girls is Amy and Dan's story, and the thought of someone else coming in and finishing the last chapter is just plain depressing. And the fact that this season wasn't a home run doesn't make it any easier. Just the opposite. Even more reason for them to come back and knock it out of the park in Year 7. I know some of you feel like Amy came off as arrogant and condescending in the interview, but as someone who has spoken to her many times, trust me when I say that was just Amy being Amy. I truly believe the entire experience has been "a freaking nightmare," like she said. Am I mad that she couldn't make a deal happen with Warner Bros.? Sure. Is it frustrating that she wouldn't cop to making a single mistake this season? Yeah. But that's one of the things I love about her. She is who she is. A stubborn, sassy motormouth, just like Lorelai. And gosh darnit, I'm gonna miss her.

Question: I'm sending a letter to AS-P to tell her how much we love her. Think that'll help? — Tammy

Ausiello: Sure! And while you're at it drop a note to Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and kindly ask him to suspend his enrichment of uranium.

Question: On the April 11 Gilmore Girls, Jess was wearing a T-shirt with a girl's picture on it. Who was on the shirt? Some thought it was Rory. — Linda Boyles

Ausiello: The picture was of the band Dinosaur Jr. Now apologize to Alexis Bledel.

Question: Can you give us anything on the Rory-Logan cliff-hanger on Gilmore Girls? A hint? A clue? Just a little scoop, please? Not even a scoop, just a scooplet? — Grace

Ausiello: Despite what you may have heard, their "final" scene together — which is both sweet and sad, I'm told — does not take place in an airport. That doesn't mean he's not still going to London though. It only means they won't be saying good-bye in an airport. How's that for a major spoiler!

Question: On the April 18 Gilmore Girls, when Lauren Graham said "frakkin'," it definitely reminded me of you. — Stephanie

Ausiello: Yeah, that reminded me of me, too. (RIP Team Palladino.)
Also, this is a little old, so may have been posted in the thread before, but I found this interesting. From Angel Cohn's TVGuide Blog:

Gossip About the New Gilmore Guy

So my friend tipped me off to some interesting personal information about the new Gilmore show-runner David Rosenthal (if you missed that big Gilmore news read Michael Ausiello's breaking news here.) Now I'm not saying that this will hinder his ability to put out a good show or not, but it is an interesting twist:

The New York Times ran a really sweet story back in 1999 about how Rosenthal met his wife and about their wedding. You can read it here (you may have to register).

But then on August 27, 2001, the New York Observer (search on David Rosenthal and go a few pages in; you'll have to register and pay for the full article) said, "Today, some people think David Rosenthal is crazy. It has been nearly a year since Mr. Rosenthal, 33, left his marriage and abandoned Hollywood, leaving barely a trace. He estranged himself from close friends and colleagues, moved into posh hotels and gave away a million dollars to young women, some of whom he barely knew."

It goes on to talk about how he wrote a very angry play called Love that, among other things, dealt with "his desire to have intercourse with the supermodel Heidi Klum." And apparently, after he sent his father a copy of the play, "his father took him to a mental hospital, where Mr. Rosenthal was kept for 48 hours." The Observer piece also includes quotes from Rosenthal about his state of mind at the time.

So, while I'm leaning towards siding with my colleague Dan who thinks based on bizarre professional credits alone, fans should give the guy a chance, I just thought this info should be shared and discussed. I'm cool with whatever, but I will be suspicious if Heidi Klum shows up in Stars Hollow next season.

All that bizarre personal trivia about David. I think it's all irrelevant as long as he writes a good show.

Actually, I do think Anna's reaction makes perfect sense (about the party). The truth is, she didn't know who Lorelai was or what kind of person she was. Heck, she's not even completely trusting of Luke either, but he gets brownie points for being the dad. It's one think to trust her child with Luke, but another completely to trust her with a complete stranger. I don't think any parent would ever be okay with that. (Parents do check out schools/daycares before leaving their children there after all.)

As for Luke. I think him letting Lorelai babysit the girls by herself makes sense too. He's known her for years, so he obviously trusts her to not hurt the girls or anything. Unfortunately, it didn't occur to him that his trust of Lorelai would not automatically extend to Anna.

Lorelai and Anna. I have to admit that Anna was being a bit unreasonable here. Luke's engaged to Lorelai, even though it's not marriage, it does suggest a constant sort of relationship. This should be enough to allow April to get to know her better. As for longterm relationships, people do come and go. That's life. April is going to have to experience this eventually, so why not start early? And who knows, a person leaving her life may not kill her. April seems very mature for someone her age.

coffy is an unknown quantity at this point
Regarding this episode: contrived is the perfect word for Amy's reaction. I can understand her being peeved that she had not met Lorelai, but saying the fiance of your child's father shouldn't be present until a marriage takes place is insane. It's unreasonable, and, frankly, it reeks of the poor storylines we've all seen this season. Good riddance to "Team Palladino" who have allowed our beloved series to fall into the pitfalls of soap opera-dom. Why can't writers understand that good writing and a well crafted story does not necessarily mean destroying relationships? I will say that I enjoyed Rory's interaction with Paris and also her call to Mitchum.

Regarding the finale, I think Rory may end up going with Logan to London for the summer. Thoughts on this option?
