CTV pacts with WB to stream skeins Online broadcasts will be restricted to Canadian viewers By TAMSEN TILLSON TORONTO -- Canadians will be able to watch "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip," "The OC" and "Smith" online, after the CTV web inked with Warner Bros. Intl. TV for broadband rights for the shows. It's the first such deal between a Canadian broadcaster and a U.S. studio. CTV will stream "Studio 60" and the fourth season of "The OC" soon after their Sunday and Thursday night TV broadcasts. It also will make available previously aired episodes. "Smith," canceled after three episodes with four left still to unspool, will bow on broadband at a later date. CTV's online broadcasts will be restricted to Canadian viewers by providing access only through Canada-based Internet service providers. "Today's announcement contributes to CTV's strategy of delivering hit programming across multiple platforms, energizing existing fan bases and reaching out to new audiences," said Susanne Boyce, CTV president of programming and chair of the CTV Media Group. CTV tested the waters this month by streaming the first two episodes of the fourth season of "The OC" ahead of their TV airdates. They were wildly popular by Canadian standards, notching more than 120,000 downloads in 10 days. "It is clearly advantageous to explore digital opportunities with our broadcast partners for our series," said WBIT prexy Jeffrey R. Schlesinger. "Maximizing exposure for our shows brings more consumer awareness, builds audiences and strengthens core fan bases. POSTED BY ANDREA IN THE SPOILERS SECTION
Quote:
http://thetvaddict.com/?p=1146 Quite a few readers have emailed theTVaddict today asking about the fate of THE OC. Apparently there is a rumour floating around the net that THE OC has been cancelled. I just got off the phone with a contact at FOX and can officially tell you that THE OC has not been cancelled. So please, stop worrying, THE OC is here to stay (at least for the time being!). If anything changes, you my dear readers will be the first to know. And here's a quote from Josh Schwartz: http://www.givememyremote.com/remote...the-oc-rumors/ Just a little while ago I emailed show creator Josh Schwartz and asked him about the rumors. His reply: “...not true… we’re moving forward with our 16 episode order as planned which has us shooting/airing into feb“. So there you have it. Last edited by vinni2; 11-27-2006 at 11:21 PM. |

TVGuide.com Today's News: Our Take Posted: Nov 28, 2006 9:56 AM Is The O.C. O-V-E-R? Fox Blasts Cancellation Buzz Fox found itself unexpectedly thrust into damage control mode on Monday when an otherwise benign write-up in the Great Falls (Montana) Tribune suggested that production on The O.C. had been shut down, effective immediately and forever. "The O.C. has not been cancelled," insists a show rep. "The show is in production on [Episode 11], and will continue production until it completes its season order [of 16 episodes]." Elswehere at Fox, the network has cut back its order for Season 2 (there was a 1?) of The Loop, from 13 episodes to 10, partly due to limited shelf space and the fact that at least three other series are in queue to premiere mid- or late season. |

O.C.'s Peter Gallagher visiting Houston to talk about flu Actor Peter Gallagher of Fox's The O.C. will talk about the seriousness of influenza and the importance of immunization Nov. 28 at the Galleria, where free flu shots will be administered. It's all part of the American Lung Association's Faces of Influenza portrait gallery, which will be on display on the street level near Ann Taylor in the middle of the mall. Gallagher will autograph Faces of Influenza portrait books, which will be given away to those who visit the new gallery from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Flu shots will be given 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The portraits are of celebrities and other Americans who have personally experienced the serious effects of influenza. For more information, visit www.facesofinfluenza.org. http://www.nationalledger.com/artman...72610121.shtml Samaire Armstrong, who most know from "The O.C.," will be on the big screen next year with Kevin Zegers in a film called "It's a Boy Girl Thing." She's so excited, she can't help but tells us ALL about it. "It's about a boy and a girl, and they switch bodies. Oh, God, I just gave it away," says Armstrong with a gasp. Ah, not to worry. With the movie being touted as the next "Freaky Friday," we could have easily figured it out on our own, but thanks. After quickly realizing that she indeed did not give the movie away, she goes on to explain, "They switch bodies, and they have to get their bodies back, but they hate each other. It's a romantic comedy. It's my favorite movie I've done so far." Luckily, she had some helping getting into the mindset of a guy. "I called my brother a lot. Also, I walked around making fun of the boy I was playing quite a bit." More on Samaire's film: http://www.entertainmentwise.com/review?id=25302 |

Hi. Could someone please make a new thread. I don't know how to make one.
Thanks. http://www.eonline.com/gossip/kristi...4-9d4d8a05a243 Is The O.C. Canceled? I've Got the Answer! By Kristin Veitch Nov 28, 2006 4:03 PM The O.C. is canceled! The O.C. is canceled! The sky is falling! Not. (Sorry, just had to employ a little Borat-ish non-humor there. And yes, I am well aware this is no laughing matter.) Here’s the dealio. I, too, have been hearing the rumors in the past two days that The O.C. has been canceled. And I doggy-doo you not, just a few hours ago, I just so happened to (literally) run into executive producer McG—while reading an email from a concerned O.C. fan! How nutso is that? I was clicking away on my CrackBerry, waiting at the valet after lunch with a source, when I bumped into McG, who was headed for the Burberry store. Naturally, I pounced for info, and McG (who is always cordial, even in such stalkery moments), told me, "No, we aren’t canceled. We hope we aren’t canceled! We are just waiting to find out if we’ll have 16 or 22 episodes this year." Good news, no? And after such great success with my serendipitous curbside stalkage, I decided to cyberstalk executive producer Josh Schwartz just to be sure. Here’s what Schwartz tells me via email: "I guess one of our cameramen spoke to his local hometown paper in Montana and said his last day of work was Wednesday, which then became (through the power of the Internet) the show was being shut down this week. Not true. "The song remains the same. We were ordered for 16, and that's what we're doing. We're having a great time making the show this year, and the response to this season's episodes has been unbelievably gratifying and rewarding. I think the rest of the season will continue to deliver for our fans; we've got a lot of fun stuff in store so keep watching (or...start watching!). Thanks." So, there you have it. The O.C. is not canceled—yet. But you should be advised that it very well could be if you don’t start watching soon. And I still contend this season truly is better than ever. So, start watching, will ya? Please? Pretty please? With Ryan and Taylor on top? |
