The makers of "Gossip Girl" are planning a spinoff series set at a girls boarding school.
Producers are hoping to expand the popular CW show by either giving co-star Taylor Momsen her own series or by introducing a new character next season who is later spun off. Regardless of which actor is used, the story would likely draw on the arc of Momsen's character Jenny Humphrey in the "Gossip Girl" book series for inspiration. Humphrey is a self-esteem challenged outsider who struggles to fit in. In the books, a series of public embarrassments (such as appearing in a teen magazine wearing next to nothing) results in Humphrey having to either repeat ninth grade or find a new school. She elects to enter a boarding school and reinvents herself as a popular girl. Her story is told in a series of six "Gossip" spinoff novels called "The It Girl." The big question is whether such a project would be picked up by the CW. The network already has two teen dramas set in high school this fall -- "Gossip" and "90210," a contemporary spinoff from the 1990s Fox series -- as well as "One Tree Hill," in which the characters recently graduated from high school. Plus, though "Gossip" -- co-created by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage -- has a devoted following and significant cultural buzz, its first season ratings were pretty modest. Alloy Entertainment owns both book series, co-produces the TV show and has a first-look deal with "Gossip" series co-producer Warner Bros. Television, whose parent, Warner Bros. Entertainment, co-owns the CW. All of which means the CW has right of first refusal on any "Gossip" spinoff. If refused, Alloy could in theory shop the project to cable networks that target young women, including ABC Family and MTV. Broadcast scripted series spinoffs are increasingly common, with NBC's "The Office" and Fox's "Family Guy" having new shows launch next season. Such others as Fox's "Prison Break" and "House" are at an early stage similar to "Gossip," with producers intending to introduce characters for a potential spinoff but without a series commitment. A CW spokesman declined comment. |

'Gossip Girl' Spinoff Planned
Little Jenny may move out of the shadow of the Queen Bee June 11, 2008 Taylor MomsenGood morning, Upper East Siders. If that venti mocha non-fat latte didn't wake you up, maybe the news of a little "Gossip Girl" competition will. The producers of The CW's hit teen drama are contemplating a spinoff series that revolves around a girls boarding school, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Loosely based on "The It Girl" books by Cicely von Ziegesar, who also wrote the original "Gossip Girl" teen book series, the spinoff would follow the social misadventures of a popularity-hungry teen who enters the Waverly Academy boarding school. There, the social outsider reinvents herself as a popular girl, but finds that she needs to watch her back around her so-called friends. In the books, the teenager is Jenny Humphrey, who's mortified after appearing in a teen magazine in only her underwear and endures other embarrassing situations. When she makes one mistake too many, she's forced to leave the Constance Billard School for Girls and head to Waverly. On the CW show, Jenny is played by Taylor Momsen. The producers could stay true to the books and move Momsen over to her own show, or they could introduce a new character this season who will get spun off later. The CW has not commented on the possible spinoff or if they are interested in picking it up. If they refuse, the show could be shopped to a competing network. |

From E! Online Watch With Kristin
Attention, Upper East Siders: "Little J" has not left the building. This is the latest coming out of Camp Gossip Girl after the Hollywood Reporter reported this morning that executive producer Josh Schwartz and his crew are working on a Gossip spinoff, most likely surrounding Taylor Momsen's character, Jenny Humphrey (aka Li'l J), who was the subject of a spinoff series for the Gossip books. I just emailed Schwartz himself to get the real story, and he tells me the rumors are not true: "Not sure how this got out there, but no plans for spinoff at this moment," Schwartz tells me. "The books do have a spinoff, but we have nothing in the works right now other than making sure season two gets off to a great start." Holla! Personally, I'm thrilled to hear that Schwartz is keeping his creative mojo focused on the two shows we already know and love: Chuck and Gossip Girl, you? A well-placed source inside the CW also tells me there are no current plans for a spinoff; however, "If the second season does as well as we expect it to, then we'll probably try to make it happen." You know you love it. XOXO, TV Gossip Girl |

Ughhh. If that does happen I will not watch it. I have not read the It Girl books, nor will I watch the series if does come on. I hate Jenny so there is no real interest either way for me.

Hello "Upper East" Siders, LittleWhiteLiar talking. Of course, were all just can't wait till the new season of Gossip Girl, which will be airing on September 1st. Well, for some of you who really just can't wait for 4 months of the show, I have tons of dirt that I had collected from websites, tv shows, and so on!
Spoiler 1: We had enough of Serena, it's time for Blair's spotlight now! According to the GG director, he states that "Since the first season was about Serena and her past, were moving onto Blair. Were going to see her struggling with a eating disorder, her relationship with her gay father and her straight mother, Nate, and telling with the fact that she had to grow up with a beautiful best friend, leaving her the ugly duckling" Also, E! News concluded that "Blair and Chuck will be a major couple in season 2" JUICY! Hoping there's a another limo scene! Spoiler 2: NOPE! Danera is not getting back together. On the season finale, it was the end of Dan and Serena's somehow serious relationship, and they will stay that way. E! News states that "Serena and Dan will not be a couple in season 2, although, there are parts of the script where there alone together. But there not going to kiss and make up that easily" Spoiler 3: EXCLUSIVE! Lines from GG script found! I don't know the specfic website where this was found (my friend e-mailed it to me) but I'll type it in anyway! It's a scene with Blair and Chuck..fighting. Blair: Did you sleep with her or not?!?!?! Chuck: *silent, avoiding eye contact with Blair* Blair: I'm done. (Takes her coat and walks out of the room) Spoiler 4: Drug Overdose?!?! A GG fan website member says that a person from gossipgirl will overdose on drugs, leading them to the hospital. They say the person will not die, but will leave for rehab. The member also says that this incident will probably happen on the season finale on Season 2 of GG. Here's some clues to find who the "drug overdose person" is... 1. It isn't a girl 2. It can either be one of the main charaters of the show, or someone completly diffrent. 3. This person just recently started using drugs http://lounge.cwtv.com/showthread.php?t=193086 |

Thanks kitten1000 for the spoilers. As for the drug overdose. I want to say either Dan or Nate. But, I am not a 100% sure. AWWW. I am so mad about Dan and Serena..I love them together. But, I am glad they will at least have some alone scenses together. Thanks. Also, thank you Azuline for the spoilers as well.

Dan Humphrey, you can breathe a sigh of relief, 'cause Serena Van der Woodsen's ice queen of a grandmother won't be around next season to try and tear you away from your twue wove.
Just heard from inside sources that Caroline Lagerfelt, who plays Lily's crazy be-yotch mom on Gossip Girl has been cast as the mother of Nick George, Peter Krause's character on Dirty Sexy Money. They tell me that as of now, Caroline is in just one episode of season two (likely the fourth or fifth), but moms have a way of staying close to their kids, so I expect we'll see more of her. She's going to give the saga of the intertwined George and Darling families some nice dimension, don't you think? credit- Kristin @ E! Online |

Well I say the drug user will be Little J. I mean after all she is outed as stealing dresses, lying about giving up her virginity and Blair has put her on the black list.
So with being back to brown bag by yourself on the steps I would say she turns to drugs to numb the pain of not being up and coming Queen J of her class anymore? |

SO excited that that same lady will be on DSM, and it won't affect Gossip Girl too much anyway. She was basically just a contrivance anyway, but played very well! I think I would have been more surprised if the grandma had've LIKED Dan. LOVED him, ADORED him, to the point that Serena was jealous, like, "Serena, why can't you be more like Dan?" It would have been hilarious, and not as heard of. As in, the rich kids, don't think the "poor kids" are good enough. I mean, that's why the grandma didn't like him, right? I totally forget what happened with that. I think I missed an episode or so, or whatever.
Jenny in the books smoked pot with Nate didn't she? Nate was a big pothead in the books (from what I remember, although I've just read the first couple anyway). But the Nate we know, isn't into drugs, at all. Which I'm glad for. The spoiled rich kid that smokes pot all the time to soothe himself I HATED, the Nate that we're getting to know on the show is so much better! However, there's storylines that this tied into that I guess we'll lose if he doesn't smoke pot right? Doesn't he meet someone he LOVES at a rehab in the books? |

Nate smoked with Chuck all the time in the show. He just didn't smoke as much as Chuck or fry too many brain cells.
I say it's Dan. Apparently he's sleeping with multiple girlsnow so what's to say he hasn't taken up pot now too

Does anyone else find it weird that we had a drug overdose of the guy in season one final that if they end season two with a drug overdose even if the person survives. Kinda BEEN THERE... DONE THAT STORYLINE? Why not have someone in a accident or missing other than a OD.
