New Moon is at the bottom of mine because it went so far away from Twilight for me. The story of Edward and Bella wasn't there except in darkness, and while I understand why it was written for the overall series, there wasn't a lot to be enjoyed...I don't hate the book, but there wasn't a lot to swoon over in the book. But that's just me lol

I think the main reason is because Edward wasn't there most of the time, and because it's just so heartbreaking to read. I think Jacob's okay, but I like Bella and Edward's relationship more.

It might have to do with the fact that Edward leaves and the majority of the book is about Bella and Jacob's relationship lolz. That's mainly why it's towards the bottom of my list. I loved the intense stuff at the end and beginning, but I dunno...I'm not a huge fan of Jake.

It seems like if one's not a Jake fan, New Moon is not so much your thing.

And yet, New Moon is so vital in setting up Jake's character & his ultimate critical role in the Bella/Edward saga. He IS, like it or not, as much Twilight as B& E. At least he is to Stephanie. ;-)

I guess New Moon is at the bottom because so many people are avid Team Edward supporters, and New Moon is the least book with Edward in it. And as Ladiesfirst said, you won't really like New Moon if your not a Jake fan either.

its probably the lowest for ppl because they didnt get to see Edward most of the time. You only catch him at the beginning and the end and most ppl are just paging through the middle in order to see if Edward's gonna show up soon. at least that's how I felt when i was reading it the first time. but i dont think new moon was that bad. it just hurt and it was heartbreaking that Edward would leave Bella knowing that they loved each other soooo much. when she saved him and they got back to forks and poured their hearts out, i love that part.

Because Edward isn't in it!

Don't get me wrong, it's AMAZING. I never cry in books or movies, but that book made me cry! When she did those pages with just the name of the month on it...that was hardcore.

It's just that....you feel so horrible for he. That kind of suffering shouldn't happen to them! I like the books a lot because of the happy endings. Real life isn't all happy endings. The Twilight saga is!

Although, the events of this book made them even closer. So, I love it.

I felt it was okay at the beginning and the end, but the middle of it just dragged too much.

I totally agree with you on the months - that was very powerful.

When I read New Moon for the first time, I really did not like it. I don't want to use the word hate as that is a very strong word.... but my feelings were close. I was upset that Edward left her, but more upset that Bella believed what he told her in the forest. I can understand WHY she did (she never felt good enough for Edward) but anyone who "lived" through Twilight could see through his words.

It took me my second time through NM to finally appreciate Jacob's character. Knowing that Edward DOES come back eventually, I was able to get more indepth with Jacob - understand who he is, understand his importance to Bella, etc.

It still is not my favorite and I agree it's due to the lack of Edward, but I can appreciate why it was necessary for NM to be in the mix.

The reason for me that New Moon is on the bottom of the list is because this book spans over Bella's darkest time and since we are hearing the book from Bella's POV, it's just really depressing. I love the relationship between Bella and Jake.. the easy friendship they developed in the beginning and even after she learned he's a werewolf but I do agree that I was just waiting for Edward's return.

Like Stephenie said in an interview some time ago.. she recommends people read the book twice because the first time everyone is waiting for Edward to come back so they don't realize the beauty of Bella and Jake's relationship ..

Yeah - I think she mentioned that on her website under the FAQ's or something. When I read that, I did go back a second time (with a book mark when Alice returned) and that's where I came to terms with Jacob. He still annoys me to no end but like I mentioned above, I can appreciate him.

New Moon is actually one of my favorites. But I have come to terms I am different than most Twilight fans.

No book has ever depressed me more in my life than New Moon. It literally took me 6 weeks to finish this book cause i dreaded picking it up, and made excuses not to read it. I felt every bit of Bella's pain.
