5.13 The Song Remains The Same
Random thoughts in real time...
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * I still say this premise is more like "Star Trek: First Contact" Yay! I missed Anna; good to see her. Hate me if you want, but I say offing Sam makes very good sense. "You come near Sam Winchester, and I'll kill you." Gawd, I love Cas. I missed him. LOL The Back To The Future reference was good. "Bend your knees." Do I even want to know? That yellow car was a 50s model, not 70s, and certainly not the *late* 70s. "Dr. Angel, Medicine Woman." LOL! They mentioned Terminator, just as someone did on the NG. Steve? Sorry, but John would certainly remember Dean better - the guy who talked him into The Impala?! Loved Sam's reaction to seeing his mom. Guess that would be weird, since he was too young to remember her. Somehow, I have the feeling Mary's already preggers with Dean. But would killing her stop the apocalypse, even if Dean is born? Inquiring minds want to know. "Young John" looks more like Castiel than John W. The obligatory chick fight - gotta love male fantasy. Can't angels kill with just a touch? Guess not. OK, now we get John's WTF moment. "I will turn this car around!" Yup, that's their dad. Oh geeze, might as well tell them who the boys are - then the angel assassin makes sense. Sam defending John....to John. Only on Supernatural. Theoretically, young John should remember the Boys. So she runs into Urinal, um Uriel; YOUNG?! Why would angels age? WTF? Angels are eternal; Uriel's essence should have died, because time is meaningless in Heaven, and/or heavenly bodies. At least the actor is better-looking. FINALLY they tell her! "I'm your son" I *knew* she was preggy ! Hmmmmm Time for Castiel to the rescue! Michael possesses John? Cool. Guess Anna messed up...big time. They totally stole Anna's death method from "Buffy" ("Selfless") Lemme guess - he wipes both John and Mary's memories. OK, wait a minute - the Winchesters date back to the Garden Of Eden? Bull, and might I add, sh*t. TOLD ya - he wipes their memories! SHEESH, I *hate* reset buttons. Sure, if things didn't unfold as they did, the boys' "plan" wouldn't come to fruition, but I'd rather they not have told Mary and John anything, than to have it all erased. Did I mention I hate reset buttons? Oh yeah, I did. May I say it again? That little trip kicked Cas' butt, huh? Stop kicking your mom, Dean. OK, but the time she's pretty with Dean, she has already made that icky deal with Azazel - "Angels are watching over you" (yeah, I know, Dean mentioned that in the past, with scorn) Mary, above all, should have been devoutly religious, knowing that demons exist should indicate to her (and Dean) that angels exist as well. Hoo boy. Entertaining episode, though, despite the resets. Natalie

Hey Natalie! I made it back this week....barely!
![]() My thoughts that I wrote last night after watching: Oh, wow! That episode totally made up for last week’s. And I have to say that season five really is Jared’s season to shine. I really thought Anna was going to spill the beans on Castiel and tell Dean that Cas was the one who let Sam out of the panic room. I’m still surprised that hasn’t come up yet. I love the fact that Dean told Cas what happened and Cas wouldn’t let the boys meet Anna. He really is their guardian angel. When Cas said Sam was his friend, I melted. Seriously, into a puddle of goo. Anna’s plan to kill Sam seemed a little insane but along with Sam, I’m wondering if it would really work. Basically, it sounded like she wanted to chop him up into little pieces and scatter him to the four winds. It sounded to me as if Sam has had some of those same thoughts and I think he’d be more than willing to let it happen if he knew it would stop Lucifer. And I believe Cas was lying when he said it wouldn’t stop Satan. One of my favorite scenes was the scene in the Impala with John and Mary in the front seat and the boys in the back. This was how it should have always been. And I loved John saying “Shut up all of you. Not another word or so help me, I will turn this car around.” That’s a true dad. The scenes between Sam and his parents, oh gosh, especially the one with John, break my freaking heart why don’t you? This was the closest Sam will ever get to apologizing to his dad and telling John he loves him. Jared was spectaculacular. ![]() The scene with Dean and Mary was sad too and then it just got really harsh. I was thinking, “How is she supposed to keep going after hearing all this?” How convenient that the angels can do a “mind scrub”. The appearance of Michael was totally unexpected but I have to say I didn’t dislike him. Everything he said made perfect sense but I still fall firmly on the side of “Team Free Will”. I just wonder which side Kripke is on. It seems like they keep pounding us with the Michael/Dean-Lucifer/Sam parallels and how they’re going to say yes and it’s their destiny. I want to think Kripke will do the opposite of what everyone thinks is going to happen but then they kept saying Dean was going to Hell and Sam kept saying he’d find a way to stop it but he didn’t and Dean went to Hell. I read an article the other day where one of the crew (can’t remember right off hand who) said Kripke wasn’t above pissing people off and giving them what they don’t want in order to tell a good story. That kinda scares me. I don’t want them to say yes! One thing I really loved about this episode is all the little details we learn. I absolutely love details and I loved hearing the memories Dean still holds onto from his short childhood. The scene at the end, with Mary talking to baby Dean and saying angels were watching over him? Oh good Lord, hand me the tissues! That was so freaking sad! Random thoughts: Why doesn’t Cas use that angel killing knife on Lucifer? “I don’t understand that reference.” Oh Cas. How did the angels manage to get rid of the sigils and the oil? My favorite quote of the night: “Because I gotta believe that I can choose what I do with my unimportant little life.” Now we know whose side of the family the vessel bloodline comes from. And they brought up Cain and Abel. Didn’t they do that once before? Another pair of brothers and one killed the other. “If you could save Mom, what would you say?” I think we know what Dean would say by the look on his face. Next week: oh crap, looks like Sam fell off the wagon. Go team free will! That will look great on a t-shirt.

Anna does know about Cas letting Sam out of the panic room. Remember when he "turned her in" to the other angels? She asked him what he let Sam out and he said he was following orders.
I agree with you about Eric telling his story. I may not want them to say yes but I want Eric to tell the story he's always had planned and not do what the fans or the network or whoever may want. His story has been awesome so far and I trust that it will continue to be even if I may not agree with everything!

*shrug* I always liked Anna. Julie McNiven's a sweetie in person, BTW.
I miss Bobby too - I wonder if Bobby's injury was some planned surgery recovery for the actor. He always walked like someone with back problems. Watch how he walks in "Lazarus Rising" - when he's walking from the kitchen, after pitching the holy water on Dean. He's saying "That don't make a lick of sense." The way his knees move, and the arc of his back are typical of vertebral dysfunction. Sorry, I'm a nurse - I notice weird stuff like that. Or maybe he just has a weird walk. Natalie

I remember that - Richard was hilarious!
You will almost certainly remember me - I'm the one who told Jensen that the writers messed up by not letting Dean stay with "Cassie" - once you go black... I found out later, the Cassie/Dean shippers were furious that I didn't take the whole thing more seriously and ask Jensen to ask the powers that be to bring Cassie back. It was brutal - I was so shocked! I was being slammed all over the net for that, when it wasn't about Jensen or Dean, but the freaking WRITERS. Jensen laughed as hard as everyone else, as I'm sure you saw. Gotta love the net. Natalie

All they said was that I could only ask one question.

I paid for "Silver" tickets and had some really fecal seats. My camera has a 300 mm lens, but it was new, and I didn't know everything about how to operate it. I'm much better now. hehehe
No, I'm not going to the LA one, probably never again. If they have a Vancouver one next year, I plan to go to that one (not the VC one this year). In LA, my iPod was stolen, and one of the vendors wrote down my CVV code from the back of my ATM card. They later bought 2 tickets to England, for about $3,400. (we got it back) So no, LA is not a place I want to be. Natalie
