Supernatural Season 6 Premiere Discussion Thread
Well what did you guys think? I thought it was much darker and grittier than previous seasons. But in a way similar to the earlier seasons of the series.
Discuss your thoughts here! If you haven't seen the episode yet, now would be the time to close the window! :-)

Yeah Sam definitely seems different. A lot of people seem to be thinking that he's still evil, it just might take a few episodes for it to come out.
He definitely seems to calm and collective to be back from Hell and completely fine. That took Dean a really long time to get over.

Who else was dissappointed in the season premiere? They already had a good story thread going with Sam's deal with Lucifer that, if he won and jumped in the pit, Lucifer had to bring him back, let Dean live and bring their parent's back. Now, bringing their parents back....glad they didn't do THAT! But what the heck with bringing the grandfather back? Much better beginning would have had Dean see Sam "checking in" on him and then wonder and go searching for whether he saw him or not. Anyone else get the idea that maybe it wasn't God who brought Castiel back? Maybe it was Lucifer... more than once. He IS an angel and Does have that same power!
And what happened to Sam's powers? Completely gone? REALLY? Anyhow, all I can say is that they need to pump this up a whole lot more to compete with last season. One last thing... Sam REALLY needs his bangs cut again.. looking real shabby from earlier in season 5! |

My usual random thoughts:
Well, we expected suburban Dean to be a snore...so, let's move on. :-) My cable company's broadcast was off-track. The words weren't matching the lips. Anyone else have that problem? Somehow, I knew he didn't give up the ghost...or the demon....or the vampire...or the... What IS it with Dean and Yorkies?! Damn, Skippy - you're more nervous than when you were about to go to Hell. Suburbia can do that. Azazel! Sam! WTF! Um, Sam using his own knife proves *nothing* - it could *all* be an illusion. Unless I missed Sam picking it up in Dean's garage. Deja Lazarus Rising - dead-brother-hugging-undead-brother Mitch Pileggi's eyes look more evil than Azazel's. Corin Nemec! Hope he's not wasted here, as he was in SG-1. Where's the damned Impala?! Cut out with Bobby's first line! Dammit. Dean, you ingrate. They were trying to give you a life. "You're saying goodbye" Duh. Talk about evil! Dean plays golf. Mitch Pileggi still has one of the sexiest voices ever, in TV. Where's Cas?! Lucy in the Sky with Demons. Only on Supernatural. Raise your hand if you *didn’t'* see the Lisa/ceiling thing coming? No one? Thought not. Interesting to see Sam speak in favor of hunting. He was always very much against it. The Impala! Good to see ya baby. Oh dear - next week, it looks like they're going to "borrow" Bradbury's short story "The Small Assassin" for next week's show. We'll see. Natalie

What a heartbreak! I didn't expect it to be dull, lifeless and Cassless. I want to go back to the Mystery Spot, to a Supernatural convention, and bumping into the Ghostfacers. Did someone make a wish in the wishing well about this premiere? If this is what season 6 will be like, no thank you.

I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it. I think my main problem with it was the disconnect between Dean and Sam. Even when Dean hugged Sam it was like...nothing. I hope it was intentional and in the writing cause I just wasn't feeling the chemistry like before.
I don't know if I really believe that Dean would choose the apple pie life over Sam/hunting either, especially if he knew there was all kinds of big bad stuff going on out there. The Lisa/Ben situation is kind of chicken/egg-ish... Would they be in more danger with Dean around or without him there to protect them? Honestly, does anyone really even care...? Not sure what to think about bringing the grandfather back either but I'll give it some time. Obviously I'll keep watching until the end but I hope this episode wasn't what the whole season will be like. They better at least fix Sam and Dean, because Sam and Dean ARE the show. And for crying out loud, Jared cut your hair!! Don't tell me that old WB "no haircuts" rule applies to him too! Argh! |

You can really feel that it wasn’t the same between Sam and Dean with the premiere. I think the disconnect is a given though with all that they been through. Sam being in the cage, coming back and not wanting to mess with Dean’s life. Dean thinking he had lost his brother, giving up hunting and trying to fit into a cookie cutter life.
Totally didn’t know that Corin Nemec was going to be in the premiere. Really love little surprises like that! Hopefully he’ll pop up some more in this season even though I’m not sure about the character he’s playing.

I feel the same way. I know obviously they aren't going to be the same as they were before after everything that's happened...but I hated how awkward they were. The hug just kind of made me sad. I think it's going to take awhile before they become the way they were (If they even can) I'm not really sure how I feel about the episode though. It was kind of weak for a premiere, but hopefully it'll pick up.

![]() I didn't sit there and roll my eyes at any point, or want to leave the room. But I was confused. Since when does one brother come back from Hell, and they just play it off with a hug and some misty eyes. That's not at all what Supernatural is about, especially not those two. The first few scenes going back and fourth between Dean's old and new life were heartbreaking. I loved that, and the real emotion behind it. But it still lacked the emotion that I thought it would. Where do I start with Lisa and Ben. Ohhh where. Yes, Ben is very cute. But Lisa is annoying. She's a half-developed stand in and I wish that goodbye would have stayed a goodbye, honestly. I don't trust grandpa as far as I can throw him, so we're just going to see how this turns out. I like the feel of the show so far this season; it's darker and grittier. But Gamble, make sure you balance that grit with some humor, or you're wasting the talent of those boys. ![]() And Misha Collins, I miss you! I know he'll be back soon, but still. Quote:
And Natalie, your random thoughts? Best thing I've read in weeks!
