I just re-read Eclipse (for the 21st time... Im a loser) and I have decided that I do like it more... It's not my least favorite anymore.
It's exciting and sadistic and heartbreaking and funny and cute and sweet and scary and dark all at the same time. You've got Jacob contesting for Bella's love, or at the very the acknowledgement that she does love him. Edward trying desperately to make Bella see that he loves her more than money and power and life (all of which he has infinately). Bella denying herself her love of Jacob and still pushing Edward back to a safe (but not too safe distance). Then there's Edward's prejudice against Werewolves. Jacob's prejudice against Vampires. Bella's love acceptance of both. And the want by both Edward and Jacob for Bella to be safe. Underneath all of the obvious feelings, there is an obvious layer of fear. By Edward: Victoria, the Werewolves, Bella not truly loving him but the thought of immortality, Bella's could-be romance with Jacob, making Bella a Vampire. By Jacob: Victoria, the Vampires, Bella's never coming to term with her true feelings for him, Bella's obvious "imprinting" with Edward, Bella becoming a Vampire, losing his bestfriend, his fear of his friends becoming werewolves, and never imprinting and finding someone special/imprinting and losing free will. By Bella: Victoria, losing her family, losing Jacob, losing Edward, losing a Cullen, losing a Werewolf, not experiencing good parts of humanity, getting married, becoming immortal, experiencing the Volturi (again), and the inherent risk of having bloodthirsty newborns new Forks. By Charlie even: his huge feeling of losing Bella, graduation, his thoughts about what might become of Edward and Bella, seeing Jacob suffer over Bella but still seeing how Bella loves Edward. By the Cullens: the newborn army being so close to Forks, a vist from the Volturi, trusting Werewolves. By the Werewolves: the newborns being so close to La Push, trusting Vampires, watching more and more Vampires come around. Eclipse is this huge web of emotions. No one knows completely how they feel. There are so many decisions to be made, and alliances to be had. Besides, all the main characters are teenagers. Sure they're mature for their ages, but they are still teenagers. Being a teenager makes everything that much more confusing and difficult. Eclipse truly captures the art of human emotions, both good and bad.

Eclipse is my third favorite book. The best thing about it to me is how you finally get to see the backgrounds of the other characters and begin saying "oh, okay. so that's why they act like that". Such as Jasper and Rosalie. It's was also very critical and perfect of the author to write this book leading up to Breaking Dawn, because it show the growing friendship or Edward and Jacob, and also a bit of how the wolves and vampires begin realizing they are stronger as a team.
