The Vampire Diaries gets a full season!

The CW gave a full season order to its Thursday night hit "Vampire Diaries" and ordered five additional episodes of Tuesday night non-hit "Melrose Place."

The move represents an expected pickup for the Warner Bros.-produced series, which has been performing strong for the network and even demonstrated growth in recent weeks.

When DVR playback is added, “Vampire” is averaging 4.5 million viewers making it the network’s most-watched show and is the CW’s #2 show among women 18-34 (3.2).

As for the CBS-produced "Melrose," the show continues to underwhelm, with the show averaging 2 million viewers and a 2.1 in the network’s demo.

The network’s half-measure pickup seems like a nod to the casting of original series star Heather Locklear, whose addition to the show might help improve its ratings. As with most CW shows, both “Vampire” and “Melrose” also make large gains from DVR playback.

Good, I hope it can keep up the tension and romance. Rough start but enjoy watching it. I am very glad it will be back. Ya.
