what an awesome episode. loved everything about this episode.
TYLER/CAROLINE  THE RIPPER!!! Stefan/Klaus torturing Ray (although i hope we get to see more of ray, he was great) Stefan/Damon and poor Andie  Matt/Jeremy bonding Alaric thinking he is a bad influence and moving out Mrs. Lockwood attacking Caroline such an AWESOME show

Great episode! I loved the explanation for why Stefan is called The Ripper and Damon's breakdown at the end. The brothers always get to me.
So far I'm liking the Jeremy/Matt friendship. Maybe Matt will actually have something to do this season. |

I'm hoping we get to see Stefan in all his Ripper glory. Right now he just seems to be playing the part but I kind of want him to flip the switch and go all out.
 Also my super unpopular opinion on Tyler/Caroline... I liked them last season but for some reason I wasn't really feeling it in this episode. They were pretty cute at the beginning of the episode but then somewhere in the middle it lost me. It was almost like their build up from last season was suddenly tossed aside so Julie Plec could get her "hot vampire/werewolf sex" that she's been going on about all summer. Like it could have been any vampire and werewolf instead of Caroline and Tyler. |

What a great beginning to the season!
All the main character are back in action, and it looks like this season will bring minors like Sheriff Forbes and Mrs. Lockwood on the forefront of the battlefields [so to speak]. Making Klaus a main character of the season [or half at least], was a great decision, and my excitement roared on as for a little while I'll get to see Vicki and Anna back on the show [in some form or another]. The only downer was seeing Bonnie only on video chat, and this new overly-sexual Caroline [come on, even Damon doesn't come off as that sex-craved]. As far as Elena, I guess I expected the season to premiere with her sobbing away, so it was a throw-off to me to see her actually having a smile on her face at some times [but you can tell she is suffering]. Ever since the official news broke that Ian and Nina are dating in reality, it's hard not to pay more attention to their on-screen character duo moments [as I am a big Stefan/Elena fan]. Stefan...what a ripper. Though graphic, his lack of crime scene cover-up [which to me is an indication he feels he has nothing left to lose and wants to be caught] and re-placing the bodies back to a 'homey' look makes for great fright and gore on the show. It's odd to see Stefan heartless to victims, and what fun it is to know deep down inside it has to be killing Damon that what he originally came to Mystic Falls to get Stefan to run off and do with him, Stefan is now doing...but with another vampire. Futhermore, Damon has sort of stepped into Stefan's place in the world of Mystic Falls until he returns it looks. I wonder how far Stefan will go before he either completely goes haywire and becomes a full-on ripper, or breaks from his undying love for Elena [which obviously he still has from that phone call and is just running with Klaus to keep him out of Mystic]. Jeremy back to his wild child days is a shocker, but what do you expect, he is seeing ghosts! I enjoy it nonetheless, as Vicki is back it sort of sets the element and reminds me of when they were together. Jeremy working at the grill however...eh, not a big fan. Matt changing into a "hurt" guy isn't his best look either. I'm used to the caring Matt, and it looks like all the secrets, lies, and betrayal of his town and peers has finally caught up with him....but getting high? So not Matt. On to Jeremy, I hope his past does not break up his relationship with Bonnie, but on that same note, I hope Vicki and Anna stay for a long while [and if Vicki ever returned to her human body, I'd like to see him back with her]. Vicki was one of my favorite characters. But just what are her and Anna's intentions? Knowing Vicki, hers is not good, but I have a feeling Anna's may be. Tyler and Caroline...I'm happy with them as a couple, and could see the twisted storyline down the line of them somehow creating a hybrid [like Klaus]. Their overly-sexual feelings though...not my forte. Please Plec, Caroline is growing up too quickly as a vampire! Tyler it fits all to well, as he was always a bad boy. I'd like to see them in a relationship but not if the main focus is their sexual attraction to each other. I know this is more of a Matt/Caroline thing...but can't they sit down and have a nice conversation?! Alaric leaving the house was a sad moment. I feel as if we won't be seeing him as much this season due to that scene, but I hope I'm wrong. I was really hoping he would stick around and oversee Elena and Jeremy for a bit longer [and even had hopes Jeremy would see his Aunt Jenna and that would hold Alaric there]. I see a Lockwood/Forbes showdown in the future over Caroline...great ending scene! All in all, a great start to the best show on television!

last nights episode was sooooo good
and i so knew that jack coleman was going to be carolines dad.. but he needs his "horned rimmed glasses" from heroes. just looks weird without his glasses..lol loved the delena moments. but i really hope that isnt the only mention of the "kiss". even though i dont want them together, i do love the scenes they share together. also loved the elena/alaric moments too. saying how they are all lost, so they should just be lost together. and that he is keeping the ring...lol and the tyler telling his mom that he is a werewolf. that was great. watching her reaction to the transformation.

Obviously Stefan isn't enjoying his time with Klaus. Where do I see it going? But his pack is pretty much either dead or far away right? The Damon and Elena scenes are great this season. Two scenes already stick out: episode one where Damon puts her necklace back on after returning it, and episode two where they are in the water arguing and ultimately agreeing. It's good to know that from here-on-out it looks like Damon has changed his mind about Stefan being "long gone" [though he did kill his girlfriend, he sort of returned the favor by saving his life]. Hoping Bonnie will be back on screen soon, but that wouldn't go over well I guess with the new and interesting storyline going on with her boyfriend Jeremy's ex-girlfriends in the mix spiritually. As for Vicki and Anna, I saw this coming from a mile away. Vicki wanting to come back to life reminds me of a few pages from the books [though different intentions and different people entirely]. As a big supported of Vicki, I personally would love to see her come back in some form, but I foresee Anna preventing that. But how will Matt react once he finds out that his sister wants to be risen from the dead? Wow at Caroline's storyline thus far...and all the people in the mix of it. Her mom seems to grasp the situation of there being good and bad vampires and is now helping I'm assuming [from overheard phone calls and such since we haven't seen her on-screen yet]. But never did I expect her father to be the one holding her hostage. What is his storyline going to be? Is he going to torture his daughter? Or show compassion? This can not be the end for Caroline, she's one of my favorite characters! Tyler showing his mom his deep dark secret was intense but also a touching moment. Seems she may join forces with Sheriff Forbes to sort out the bad from good in the town...but why was she keeping in touch with Caroline's dad for the whole 'vampire situation' anyways? And does Sheriff Forbes know that she's been keeping in contact with her ex? Too bad Ray had to die...his character was pretty interesting.

yeah i loved ray, would have liked to seen him stick around a while.
and yeah should be interesting to see what the deal is with tyler's mom and caroline's dad. and how much does the sheriff know about their relationship? i just hope someone can save caroline this time around. poor caroline is always being kidnapped and tortured. personally i would like to see tyler be the one to save her (to make up for last time) or perhaps her mother can. step up and be the parent she should be and put a stop to her ex.

I had to laugh when Damon pointed out that Stefan's phone call to Elena ruined his plan to keep them away, because that was exactly what I thought when I rewatched last week's episode. He went to all that trouble of killing Andie to convince Damon (and thus Elena) to let him go, only to call Elena in the end and give her hope that Stefan could be saved. One thing I love about this show is that the writers actually address things like that.
Klaus does seem set on there being more hybrids and since he can't seem to create them himself... I have a terrible feeling that Caroline and Tyler's sudden sexytime means she is going to somehow get pregnant. Nooooo, do not want. I really liked the Elena/Alaric moments and I'm glad he's moving in and taking a bedroom for himself. I like the little family unit they have going on. Good thing no one ever goes to school on this show or else people might start asking questions.

It seems like that would put Caroline in the same position as Bella in Twilight in a sense though doesn't it [being a werewolf bite can kill her and all]? I think school starts back for them in episode six or seven! It will be interesting to see them all in a school setting considering everyone single one of the main senior characters are all now in on the supernaturals. But will Stefan return to school...I wonder. And I'm most excited to see Alaric get back into the swing of things. School will definitely open the door to new characters.

its funny you should mention caroline having tyler's baby. cuz doesnt that happen in the books? (she isnt a vamp, but she does have werepuppies) would be pretty interesting to see how that story is played out on the show.
i never really liked andie. i think she was basically just there to keep damon company and let him vent about things to her. knowing he couldnt be with elena he was simply using andie. i think over time he did start to have some actual feelings for andie, but his heartbreak didnt seem to really last very long. it was more of shock that stefan would do that to her than heartbreak that she was not apart of his life anymore

I only read the first three books, I think, so I'm not sure about Caroline having Tyler's pups but I believe it.
I'd rather them not turn her into a Bella type of character with some unknown spawn growing inside her but they do seem to enjoy putting her in these kind of helpless situations. :/I didn't really care about Andie either way. She wasn't really a developed character and was only there to be Damon's plaything. Their relationship was pretty skeevy since there were a lot of consent issues there, what with him compelling her and all... I think he probably had some kind of fondness for her since he kept her around but I think his reaction to her death was more about losing Stefan than Andie. |

Tonight's episode was amazing!
So Stefan was friends with two originals [all that we know of yet], in his past. Rebecca and Nick [aka Klaus]. It seems back in his Ripper days Stefan really had a thing for this Rebecca. I'm very curious, just who was the 'he' Rebecca and Klaus were referring to when they decided they had to get out of there. So much so that Klaus compelled Stefan to forget about Becca so they could escape. Whoever it is Klaus was running from, that's who Stefan needs to find in my opinion. I enjoyed the flashbacks, very good tv! It's funny how things are turning out, but I wonder what effect this will have on Stefan [now that he remembers his affection for Rebecca]. How ironic that the necklace Stefan gave Elena is the key to all this, and with Elena also being the key to the curse unlocking, it seems all this is going to come down on Stefan hard. It seems Stefan does still care for Elena, but now it seems he has a bit more compassion for Klaus and now that Rebecca is back, we may see Stefan let go a little and fully indulge in full Ripper status. Whatever the picture, it doesn't look like Damon and Elena are going to be leaving him alone anytime soon. Katherine is back, and in Chicago at that! What is her purpose of being there. The flashback of her seeing Stefan pick up that necklace may indicate that she may let it slip to Klaus that Stefan knows where to find it...but he can't say it's on the very much still alive Elena's neck...Whatever the case, I feel like Kat's intentions are no good [as usual]. Glad Sheriff Forbes and Tyler saved Caroline, and it's good to see Tyler and Caroline bonding. I'm loving their relationship and hope it stems into more seriousness.I felt like we needed a bit more focus on her rescue though...even though the focus was Stefan's past connection with Klaus and his family, we still need some other character focus throughout. Gloria is a great character. Love the fact that she used potions to slow down her aging process! I'd like to see her in a couple more episodes! Great episode!
