ok so Damon Salvatore is now cleaning up his brother's mess, dealing with barbie klaus, trying to get his bromance back with alaric and flirting with elena. wonder what will happen next.

I love Damon. He's such a brilliant character. I usually go for canon couples but in the latest series I think I'm actually rooting for Delena

Damon Salvatore went through a lot in Ghost World/Ordinary People!
What I love about him is that he has never really gotten out of his bad boy smart-mouthed groove, and that's what makes him Damon. However, we have seen Damon evolve so much, especially in these episodes. In Ghost world, we see Damon experience the very pain he put Mason Lockwood through by Mason himself...but there is an upside to that. It seemed his alliance with Alaric is back on being as how the dead werewolf is back to life they planned to take out together [I was hoping Alaric wouldn't stay mad too long]. We also see Mason and Damon sort of make up for the hardship between them in the caves. Mason lets Damon know that his feelings of anger towards his death are no more, and so Damon sort of gets the just of guilt through that. I loved his smart apologies.."Sometimes, I do things I may not have to do..." - Haha, nice one Damon [or twice one Damon, since he used that one on both Rick and Mason]. Funniest quote hands-down of that episode was when he pulled up to Caroline and Bonnie - "Greetings Blondie. Witchy." Too funny! And as for Damon in Ordinary People, there was definitely a back-on bromance with Alaric, so it was nice to see the two working together once again. As for his relationship with Elena... It's getting very close and personal. I hate how she is still on the "Buffy" power-trip, but at least it's giving us lots of physical moments with her and Damon [like the scene where they are trying to discover the runes' meanings]. However, the highlight of this episode has to be when he frees Stefan. I have always though it so weird that this Stefan is the one Damon wanted from the first episode, and how it was unfair we had to see Damon watch from the sidelines. We sort of got a glimpse of how it would be if Damon would give up and run alongside Stefan in Ordinary People. Taking him out to bars, compelling people for "drinks". I know it had to all be in the hopes that Mikael would find them there though, as he did. And now comes the confusion, Stefan's compulsion can't be that powerful...as when Mikael had hold of Damon's heart, it didn't take long for Stefan to spill on what he could do to get Klaus back in town. However, Damon did a good job at kicking Stefan's butt in the end when he made that smart remark about humanity. And as if that wasn't enough, I think it is safe to say that the closing scene with Elena and Damon laying side by side makes it apparent that Elena's love for Damon has truly grown multitudes. Which is a good and bad thing: bad because if Stefan shall return, Damon's heart is going to be crushed, in which overly-dramatic bad-boy Damon [think attempting to kill Bill, Caroline's father], will return.

Homecoming definitely left questions up in the air with Damon for me.
Is he finally going to let Stefan go? Is he smart enough to figure out that maybe Stefan was doing something for the greater good? In Homecoming, Damon has a lot of great moments, mostly with Elena. It seems he planned everything out perfectly! The ending scene with Elena makes it pretty obvious his feelings are very strong for her now, and it seems he has lost all interest in Katherine via that phone call. Damon is actually the good guy now, fighting for the greater good. "Take care of yourself, Katherine". Not something I expected to hear out of Damon's mouth. I'll admit, it was nice to see his urge to kill resurface when Tyler tried to bite him, and in the same moment we got a great scene and quote with Bonnie and himself: "You weren't suppose to witchy-migraine me!" Too funny! The mid-season finale just makes me feel sad for Damon though. We all know when Stefan returns Elena could very well leave Damon in the dust, and after all these emotional scenes where he is opening up and letting his guard down, I have no doubts that bitterness is going to run through his veins somewhere along down the lines if he is left alone or seen to be the bad guy again.
