Shane Walsh/Jon Bernthal Appreciation Thread #1: "I Kept Them Safe."
Shortly after the evacuation, Shane began having an affair with Lori. When Rick showed up among a group of survivors returning from Atlanta, Lori seethed at Shane and warned him away from her family. "You think I'm not happy Rick's alive?" Shane asks. "Why would you be?" she responds. "You are the one that told me that he died." Indeed, Shane was the last to see Rick in the hospital, but left the building believing Rick was dead. He is tortured by his responsibility in leaving him there. But, as he tells Lori, "I had y'all to think about." Still, his feelings for Lori persist. Among the group of survivors, Shane had become the de facto leader. When Rick returned, Shane's influence lessened, causing tension between the partners. Their friction came to a head following a walker attack on the camp. Shane blamed Rick for not being there (Rick had returned to Atlanta to retrieve a Bag of guns) and disagreed with him on the next course of action: Rick believed the group should head to the CDC in Atlanta for protection; Shane thought Fort Benning, an Army base a hundred miles away, was a safer bet. When Shane challenged Rick on the matter, Rick responded that Shane would feel differently if he had a family to protect. "I kept them safe," Shane snapped. "Looked out for them like they were my own." Soon after, a sound drew Rick away. Shane aimed his shotgun at Rick’s back, but came to his senses before pulling the trigger. Shane eventually backed Rick's plan to go to the CDC. Their first night at the facility, Shane drunkenly professed his love to Lori and tried to kiss her, and she scratched his face and neck. When Rick questioned Shane about the injuries the next day, Shane said he did it to himself in his sleep. "Not like me at all," he said, eyeing Lori. Source: Wiki

I think shane is heading to his own demise very quickly. After what happened with Otis I am pretty sure guilt is going to get the best of Shane. He will either sacrifice himself out of guilt or crack under the pressure and have to be killed by somebody.
BTW - I think there was already some question of Shane's character. I mean, he left Rick at the hospital and while everybody is fighting to stay alive he is trying to hook up with his best friend's wife almost immediately. That seems messed up to me. |

Wow, Shane is really getting dark. He wants to accept any losses and just move on and not waste any resources with searches and such. It's interesting because in a way he is losing his very humanity (which separates them from the zombies) and forget the pastwhile Rick seems to want to hold on to his humanity and the way things were.

Something needs to be done about Shane. He is totally losing his grip and now it looks like he is trying to take over Rick's role by force! I am certain he also won't respect Hershel asking them to leave.
I did find it interesting how Shane is not as cold as even he wanted to believe. He was yelling at Hershel that the walkers are not people any longer and don't deserve any rights or respect but when Sophia appeared and it was somebody he actually knew he seemed to falter. Rick had to step up and finish what Shane started. I really think Shane is going to get killed real soon |

I think they might keep Shane around a while longer to show the descent of humanity in this new world that has taken over. It shows that after a while some people will just start reverting back to their baser instincts which is to survive no matter what the cost. Though yes there was a show of humanity there at the end with Sophia walking towards him, but is that really enough to save him in the long run?

I'm so angry with Shane for what he did! There could have been another way around it.
I'm really curious at to what he will be up to now.
