When the self proclaimed "Best Rapper Alive," Lil Wayne skyrocketed to superstardom he brought a few friends with him. Kevin Rudolf was one of the first to be signed to Wayne's Cash Money Label. Of course, Wayne had a guest spot on Rudolf's first single "Let It Rock," which has brought Rudolf to head liner status.

The Let It Rock Tour did a few things right. They brought a convoy of alt rock and hip hop artists, and for the paltry 18 dollar admission price the audience got six bands and hours of music. Both, The Audition and Cash Cash had similar sets. The Audition, hailing form Chicago, brought a harder rock driven sound, whereas Cash Cash has pop/punk written all over them. From their skin tight jeans and their Nike's, down to the catchy melodies, this indie band is a record executives dream. Cash Cash made it through their 30 minutes on stage, the low point, a cover of Cascada's "Everytime We Touch," without doing anything memorable. Just another indie rock group with the same sound as the rest of the crowd.

The Audition brought something a little different. Lead singer, Danny Stevens, has a strong voice and delivered solid performances of "My Temperature's Rising," and "Warm Me Up." Look for The Audition to break out of the opening slot soon.

Hypercrush brought a mix of hip hop and electronica that completely took over the show. No one, including Kevin Rudolf, could top the 30 minutes Hypercrush spent on stage. The show consisted of strobe lights, lasers and more strobe lights. Although some may call Hypercrush over the top, from the neon Ray bans to their keytars, that's exactly why they're so entertaining live. Holly Valentine and Donny Fontaine both provided the vocals, and it worked perfectly. The small audience went crazy during "Sex and Drugs," and one of their most popular songs to date "Robo Tech." It may have been the stage diving, the infectious beats or the energy of all three band members, that made the set so memorable. Whatever it was, Hypercrush will be headlining soon enough.

When Kevin Rudolf made his way on stage the buzz still hadn't settled from Hypercrush's explosive set. Without addressing the audience once Rudolf performed about six songs. It was obvious he was fighting the flu and he did his best to give the crowd their money's worth. Decked out in a leopard print scarf and a glimmering, diamond encrusted Cash Money chain, Rudolf let his band mates take over on the bulk of the vocals. Performances of "Coffee and Doughnuts," as well as "Welcome To The World," were both strong. There's no denying Rudolf's musical talent, his guitar solos were not effected by his illness, and it became crystal clear why the king of rap had signed him. He closed out the night with the obvious choice, a great performance of "Let It Rock." Rudolf quickly left the stage, and Lil Wayne's new single blasted through the speakers as the band exited. There's no question whose running the show, but the Let It Rock Tour provided a good mix of diverse music, that culminated in an entertaining night.
