When Jordin Sparks was crowned the winner of American Idol, the last place she would've expected to be was on a rolling stage performing after a Major League Baseball game. That's exactly where she found herself after the Oakland A's had defeated the Baltimore Orioles at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum. Sparks was quickly rolled out from beyond the center field fence and launched into a shortened set.

Although these are not ideal conditions for a concert, Sparks did the best she could with what she had to work with. Some took a quick look at the spectacle at second base but chose to head toward the exits and beat traffic. Others were there just for the post game entertainment. It was blatantly obvious who was there for baseball and who was there for the concert. When Sparks appeared the high pitched screaming began. Her vocals were solid in spite of the cavernous coliseum which made her echo. Sparks made sure to perform all of the favorites including "No Air," and current single "Battlefield."

The Oakland A's ground crew was hard at work removing the bases and hosing down the infield as Sparks concluded the 30 minute set. The quick show ended with "Tattoo," and the stage was rolled off the field as Sparks waved to the fans who had braved the cold and remained until the last note was played. The short concert coupled with an Oakland A's win culminated in a great night. The A's promotional staff proved to be creative, hopefully more teams follow suit and succeed in bringing a new wave of fans out to the ballpark.
