Berry Gordy’s The Last Dragon was a martial arts film released in 1985, the movie was set in New York City, and the story follows a black teenage martial arts student named Leroy Green (Taimak) who dreams of becoming a great martial artist like his idol Bruce Lee. He goes on a search for the final level of his training, a mysterious energy called The Glow.

RZA from the Wu-Tang Clan, John Davis, and Kerry Gordy (son of the original film’s producer) will be producing the remake of the cult classic “The Last Dragon”. Samuel L. Jackson will play the role of Sho’nuff, the Shogun of Harlem.

No other cast members have been confirmed, but RZA has sights on R&B/Pop singer Rihanna for the role of Laura Charles, a singer who gets rescued by Leroy Green, from her insane music promoter. "That's the one I'm rooting for, we're keeping that same concept of the girl being in the music business." says RZA.

Dallas Jackson has already written a script. The film's conception took place at Quentin Tarantino's home. RZA confirmed that it will be an update, as opposed to a sequel. "He (Dallas Jackson) knows a lot about hip hop, martial arts films and black culture," said RZA.

“The Last Dragon” remake is set be released in 2010.
