It may have been the first time that an artist has ever been introduced with the words Oscar winning, at the Sleep Train Pavilion in Concord. Jamie Foxx, the Oscar winning, grammy-nominated, jack of all trades, hit the stage amidst a barrage of smoke and lights. The entertainer is currently traveling the country on his Blame It Tour.

Foxx had multiple personalties on stage during his two hour set. There is one side of Foxx, the more popular side, that sings with help from auto tune and features Lil Wayne on all of his singles. Then there's the other side, the more talented one, that channels Ray Charles and is straight up blues. Jamie himself is very aware of this and took time out midway through the set to apologize for the hit singles that are in heavy rotation on hip hop radio nationwide.

"I know I run around up here and act a fool, but can I get grown for a minute," said Foxx. After all the dancers had cleared the stage, he made a wardrobe change. Donning an all white suit he immediately launched into a few slow jams and his real passion was evident. Although Foxx sells a lot of records with songs like "Blame It," it seems he'd be happier playing a small jazz club.

Foxx is entertaining yes, and the entire two hours didn't consist of music as some of his old stand up routine worked its way into the set. The only real downfall of the show was the fact that Foxx was the only name on the bill. On a cold October night not many wanted to shell out the money to see the movie star, the pavilion was only a quarter full when the show began. The huge amount of empty seats was startling.

Between his great impressions of Ray Charles and Obama, his overly produced dance numbers, and the moments where Jamie is just being himself performing music that he loves, this show is well worth the price of admission. Jamie is , plain and simple, a likeable guy and that translates to the stage. Of course the show ended with Foxx crooning "Blame it on the a aa a alcohol.." halfheartedly, almost jokingly. The king of the movie business knows he's much better than that.
