Keke Palmer Gets BET Talk Show; Judge Mathis to Produce

Actress Keke Palmer, of hit Nickelodeon show True Jackson VP and who’s appeared in films such as Akeelah and the Bee and  Madea’s Family Reunion, will soon be able to add Youngest Talk Show Host in History to her already impressive resume.

The 20 year-old actress has joined forces with Judge Greg Mathis, who’ll serve as Executive Producer, and will be premiering her new talk show on BET this Summer. The network will air the show on July afternoons as a trial, and if picked up, will make Palmer the youngest talk show host to have ever graced the tv screen.

The Keke Palmer Show (title not final) will be one of 4 talk shows in the BET lineup this summer, others include The Wendy William Show , The Queen Latifah Show, and another premiering talk show, The Real. Topics will include, but not be limited to: pop culture, fashion, social issues, sex and celebrity interviews.

Palmer released a statement on Monday, when her show was announced, saying,”I like to read quotes that touch on how I am feeling. If I am dealing with confusion, I will read quotes about clarity and peace of mind. I started posting these quotes on my Twitter page, and fans responded so positively! I realized that many of them were dealing with similar issues, and the quotes helped to open up a genuine dialogue between us.”

Although BET isn’t the ideal network for, well, anyone at the moment, they’re clearly trying to make some programming moves to turn that around. I’m a fan of Keke Palmer’s work, but I’m also not sure that having a child star hosting a talk show will give the network the boost it needs.
