Top music producer RODNEY 'DARKCHILD' JERKINS is determined to "reinvent" BRITNEY SPEARS and launch a successful career comeback for the troubled star.

The pop singer - currently celebrating the birth of her younger sister Jamie Lynn's daughter Maddie - has had a rocky year, which she has spent fighting an ongoing custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline.

But Grammy-winning producer Jerkins, who produced remixes for Spears' tracks Overprotected and I Love Rock 'n' Roll, insists her new music will resurrect her troubled public image, according to People.com.

AMERICAN IDOL reject KRISTY LEE COOK has landed a record deal with the company which previously dropped her.

The pretty 24 year old has signed to Arista Nashville and will release her first single, 15 Minutes of Shame, in August (08).

Cook became an Arista artist as a teenager - years before becoming a contestant on American Idol - but was dropped before she recorded a single.

RADIOHEAD's efforts to make their current world tour environmentally friendly have paid off - the band has received a glowing report from green campaign group Friends of the Earth.

The band have attempted to reduce their carbon emissions while touring by limiting the amount of equipment they take with them, using low-energy LED lights and taking refillable water bottles.

All of the band's merchandise is also now made from recycled materials.

Teen star MILEY CYRUS has vowed her new album will be a "grown-up" departure from her role on hit Disney TV series HANNAH MONTANA.

The 15-year-old singer sparked controversy for acting much older than her age when she was snapped topless, wearing just a bedsheet, by celebrity photographer Annie Leibowitz for the June (08) issue of Vanity Fair magazine.

But the photo scandal hasn't stopped the teenager from embarking on a more adult music release with her forthcoming album, Breakout - because she wants to be taken more seriously as a songwriter.

FALL OUT BOY star PETE WENTZ earned a standing ovation after performing a pitch-perfect rendition of baseball anthem TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALLGAME at Wrigley Field in Chicago, Illinois on Sunday (22Jun08).

Ironically, his version of the sports song came just a month after American football star Tony Romo butchered the song at the same venue.

Romo is dating Wentz's new sister-in-law Jessica Simpson.

AMERICAN IDOL star BLAKE LEWIS is refusing to quit the music business after he was dropped by his label Arista Records - insisting it's "no biggy".

The season six runner-up was axed from the label's books after disappointing sales of his debut album Audio Day Dream last year (07) - which sold approximately 300,000 copies in the U.S.

Lewis joins a string of former contestants of the U.S. hit talent contest to be dropped - Idol winners Taylor Hicks and Ruben Studdard and fellow runner-up Katherine McPhee have all been dumped by Arista.

Teen sensation MILEY CYRUS is expecting her phone to ring on Saturday night(28Jun08) after an unnamed ex-boyfriend catches the debut of her angry new video.

In 7 Things, the Hannah Montana star takes aim at the guy who broke her heart, and she enlisted the help of moviemaker Brett Ratner to help her get her message across in the video.

Cyrus claims writing the song was "a good little therapy moment" for her, admitting "the word hate could describe how angry I was."
