Interview:
Recently we caught up with Ashley Tisdale. The Highschool Musical star has been busy filming movies and recording her new album "Guilty Pleasure." An album that is much more rock driven than past musical efforts. With the new album currently charting and Aliens In The Attic in theaters, a movie which Tisdale stars in, this young artist seems to be shedding her Disney Channel persona and growing up quickly.

Would you consider this new album to be a lot different then Headstrong?

Ashley Tisdale: Well, no it's definitely different, I mean, I think it's more grown up, it's more mature. It's a little bit more pop rock and guitar driven. I feel like, you know, this is a reflection of where I am in life right now, I'm turning 24 and I'm growing up. I feel like this is kind of exactly what I wanted, you know, the first one was a real big learning experience for me but this is exactly what I wanted out of an album. It's something I'm really, actually, super proud of and I'm really happy with it.

Did the album naturally sound more grown up, or did you go in the studio and make an effort to have it sound that way to detach yourself from the Disney Channel stigma?

Ashley Tisdale: It's not about detaching yourself it's just, you know, you're growing up and you want to grow with each project. So, with this one, you know, like I said, it's a reflection of where I am. I am growing up, but it's not running away from my fans in any way, like, I think they're growing up with me as well. So it's not anything that's super out there, it's something that people can relate to. All the songs are relatable, a lot of them are break up songs.

What was your experience like having co written some of the songs on this album. Do you have scheduled writing sessions or do you just take from what's going on in your life and write about it?

Ashley Tisdale: I don't write when I experience something. I can't write a song right after, it's not like oh my gosh now I'm gonna write a song. I kind of like, sit down and I have journals that I write in and it could be either, like, quotes or how I'm feeling or poetry. And I do write poems a lot and so, I would write either a poem about something that, you know, happened and I take that a couple weeks later to the writing, you know, whoever I'm writing with. I just, like, talk about that and I really bring just the poetry. I only write the lyrics I don't do the music.

Do you still get nervous about how many copies this album will sell when it drops or are you pretty confident at this point?

Ashley Tisdale: No, I'm always, always excited. And I never expect anything from any project I'm doing. I just always have fun at what I'm doing and that's really something that satisfies me. But, I'm really excited. Of course, you're a little bit nervous but it's just more an exciting nervousness. You want people to enjoy the stuff that you did and plus I'm probably more nervous because it's kind of exactly who I am so, I think I'm a little more vulnerable this time.
