GABRIEL BYRNE, EDDIE IZZARD and JAMES SPADER will be among the stars fighting for a Best Drama Actor honor at the Emmy Awards, while pregnant MINNIE DRIVER and SALLY FIELD are favorites for the Best Actress prize.
The quintet has been selected among the 20 semi-finalists on a shortlist.
Driver and Izzard are nominated for The Riches, while Byrne gets a nod for playing a psychiatrist in In Treatment. Boston Public gave Spader the chance to fight for an Emmy.

How many people actually know whom Don Sinclair Davis was? Most people that have heard of him know him as General Hammond from Stargate. People, who follow X-Files, know him as Scully's dad. He was on MacGyver, where he met Richard Dean Anderson. He was in several feature films and television shows. The man worked with many of the top names in the industry. Ohh, he was also Dr. Davis, with his Ph.D. in Theater.
Now, quite a few people probably have overlooked this great man. He was one of the better character actors and played several well loved roles. Though, the stories of how good a man he was are a far more positive acknowledgement.

Oscar nominee AMY RYAN is heading back to TV because she misses the laughs on THE OFFICE.
The Gone Baby Gone star will return to the U.S. sitcom, as Holly Flax, for multiple episodes next season.
She says, "I don't know what they're (writers) going to do with the character but, as it was written, there's certainly a lot of potential.

BRITNEY SPEARS' acclaimed stint on U.S. sitcom HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER hasn't earned her an Emmy nod - she and MARY-KATE OLSEN's guest TV spots won't be among those competing for gold.
Both stars have been left off the top 10 list of Emmy semifinalists in the Best Guest Actress in a Comedy Series category.
Instead, Sarah Silverman is a favorite for her part as an obsessed stalker in Monk, alongside Oscar nominee Amy Ryan for her star turn in The Office.

Well well well how the tables have turned! To think, I have asked the question, "How many articles will it take to have people realize things need to change quickly in the WWE?" They were right; ask and you shall receive. For the first Monday Night RAW after this year's draft, we have a new World Heavyweight Champion. MTV bosses are considering inviting BRITNEY SPEARS to September's (08) Video
Music Awards (VMAs) - 12 months after her disastrous 'comeback' performance at
the event.
The pop star disappointed fans and the watching world with a lacklustre
rendition of single Gimme More at the bash in Las Vegas last year- just six
months after allegedly suffering a meltdown.
She was later spotted crying backstage.

U.S. TV drama JERICHO could be heading to the big screen, according to the show's stars ASHLEY SCOTT and BRAD BEYER.
The series - a portrayal of America post-nuclear attacks - was axed by network CBS in March (08) after a small, devoted group of fans begged TV bosses to green light a second series last year (07).
But now supporters of the program could be in for a treat if movie bosses give the go ahead for a film version of the show.

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES and HEROES have been snubbed for Emmy Awards a year after making the top 10 finalists lists for Best Comedy and Drama.
Instead, Emmy first timer Family Guy and critics' favorite Mad Men will take their place.
Announcing the finalist lists for the upcoming TV awards a day early, website GoldDerby.com reveals Entourage, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Family Guy, Flight of The Conchords, The Office, Pushing Daisies, 30 Rock, Ugly Betty, Two and a Half Men and Weeds will compete for Best Comedy Series.
