Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway: The Sex Talk

This week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly features a joint interview with Anne Hathaway, Jake Gyllenhaal, and director Edward Zwick, in which both actors talk about those highly-anticipated multiple sex scenes with each other on-screen in their upcoming sure-to-be-hit, Love & Other Drugs.

“On one take you swung me into the pot!” 28-year-old Hathaway jokes to Gyllenhaal during the interview. “The lack of clothing meant there wasn’t a lot of padding, so I was constantly bruised…I had a welt on my knee.”

On a more serious note [nakedness and strangers], Anne opened up about the akwardness of shooting the more intense sex scenes, saying: “There is that revoltingly embarrassing moment when you have to take your clothes off in front of strangers. I mean, I don’t go to the beach in a bikini for a reason. So I thought, ‘Okay, I’m going to be in control. I’m going to do everything properly, disrobe at the last minute, and in between shots get the clothes back on.’ But then I found that every time I put my robe back on, it rubbed all the body makeup off, and that added 20 minutes to filming. As with all things in life, the second you stop making it about you and you make it about everyone else, it just got, dare I say, fun.”

After Anne revealed the use of body make-up, Gyllenhaal revealed another interesting tidbit of trivia about the tape that kept certain modesty-preserving patches from falling off, which at time he admits “fell off”, saying: “It supposedly was the same tape that they used on Pirates of the Caribbean to keep everybody’s wigs on.”

In a separate interview with a radio host just a day after Entertainment Weekly’s, Gyllenhaal goes a little more in-depth about how he and Anne tackle the love scenes, saying: “We really just talked about what positions we liked and disliked,” he cracked. “There’s one called the Hathaway special, but I won’t get into it.”

You can find the full article in this week’s copy of Entertainment Weekly, which is featuring Anne and Jake on not one, but three separate covers, completely uncovered [and features just how the two real-life friends got in the mood on-screen!

Interesting…but just what is the Hathaway special?

  1. All this Hathaway and Gyllenhaal love has me so obsessed with their could-be relationship again – ugh, why can’t they just sign a marriage license already! They’re perfect for each other!

  2. haha they certainly are an attractive couple. I was looking at the different covers for EW with their feature in it and I couldn’t help but think … hm… Wonder what Taylor Swift will think of this. I adore her too, but I agree Jake and Anne make a stunning couple!
