The Dark Knight Rises: An Update On What You Should Know

Excited for the upcoming Batman movie but can’t sort through the real and fake press releases to figure out what’s to expect?

Fake press releases and tabloid rumors have become the norm for the new Batman movie. Some fans are confused as to what is true and what isn’t. So, here’s what you should know thus far, and what has been confirmed, of the highly-anticipated movie The Dark Knight Rises.

First off, fans will be happy to know that Christian Bale is back [despite rumors that he hasn’t officially signed on to return]. However, and possibly the number one reason why you should see this movie, Bale himself has stated that: “Unless Chris[topher Nolan] says different, this will be the last time I’m playing Batman.”

Second, Warner Bros. has confirmed that Anne Hathaway will play the role of enemy/aid to Batman, Catwoman, while Tom Hardy is supervillian Bane! Fans of Hathaway and Hardy are super-excited, and though some fans of Catwoman think Halle Berry would be better suited for the role, we’re sure Hathaway will impress! And while we’re on the subject of villians, Christopher Nolan himself has dismissed the notion of the green-suited puzzler, The Riddler, being featured in the movie at all.

Moving on, a fake press release attempted to confirm that a Marion Cotillard/Joseph Gordon-Levitt Inception reunion would happen in The Dark Knight Rises. This reality of the rumor, and the only thing that has been confirmed, is that the two actors are in discussion of it, but nothing has yet to be decided. In other words, the latest fake press release pertaining to the subject [Cotillard has signed on to play Caped Crusader temptress Talia al Ghul, and Gordon-Levitt is signed and set to play Batman’s nemesis the Black Mask] is untrue and should be disregarded.

So what about the score? Well, it doesn’t have to be confirmed that it will indeed be epic, but further reassuring you that it will, Composer Hans Zimmer himself has made a comment that it will surely “amaze”.

So there you have it. What’s true, what’s fake, and what we all should know so far about the upcoming sure-to-be box office hit The Dark Knight Rises!

  1. Technically, all we know for sure is that Anne Hathaway will be playing Selina Kyle. That is the true identity of Catwoman but in all of the official releases there is no mention of Catwoman. Many wonder if Nolan will actually show the Catwoman character. All of the rumors I have read seem to indicate that Joseph Gordon-Levitt might be playing Alberto Falcone (aka The Holiday Killer) but that has not been officially announce by anybody.
