Jennifer Lawrence Offered Leading Role In The Hunger Games

Jennifer Lawrence has received an offer to star as a lead in the sure-to-be-hit film adaptation of the book The Hunger Games.

The setting is a post-apocalyptic future where Katniss [the role offered to Lawrence], a young woman competes in a fight-to-the-death survival competition, broadcast across the globe. Author Suzanne Collins wrote The Hunger Games, which is the first in her trilogy of young adult books [all of which could possibly hit the big screen if this adaption makes big at the box office] All three books are New York Times bestsellers.

Collins wrote the script with Billy Ray (State of Play), and Seabiscuit’s Gary Ross will direct.

Fans of Lawrence are hoping she accepts the role, which would look amazing on her film accomplishments’ list and set the path for a year of great gigs. The actress was recently nominated for an Academy Award for best actress for her performance in Winter’s Bone and can be seen next in X-Men: First Class, which hits theaters June 3.
