‘The Magician’s Nephew’ Next Film In Narnia Series

Walden Media co-founder and president Michael Flaherty has confirmed that the next Narnia movie will not be The Silver Chair, but instead, it will be The Magician’s Nephew. Here is what he had to say:

“We are starting to talk to Fox and talk to the C.S. Lewis estate now about the Magician’s Nephew being our next film. If we can all agree to move forward, then what we would do is find someone to write the script. So, it could still be a couple of years.”

Flaherty also noted that The Magician’s Nephew, the sixth book published in the seven title series and a prequel to The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, is his favorite. The Magician’s Nephew is the second most popular book in the series behind only The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. The plan would be to release the film around Christmas time.

The third film in the franchise, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader was made for about $155 million and earned $403.9 million worldwide. While Price Caspian made more ($419.7 million) it also cost more to make ($225 million).
