Theatrical Releases for April 29th, 2011: Fast Five Hits Theaters

13 Assassins (NR), Action – Set at the end of Japan’s feudal era in which a group of unemployed samurai are enlisted to bring down a sadistic lord and prevent him from ascending to the throne and plunging the country into a war-torn future. Stars Koji Yakusho.

Cave of Forgotten Dreams (G), Documentary – Documentary about the Chauvet caves in Southern France that contain the oldest known cave paintings.

Dylan Dog: Dead of Night (PG-13), Horror/Comedy – An ex-cop turned private investigator, is one of the few living humans to know the truth about the supernatural beings that exist on the fringes of the modern world. He takes on cases involving vampires, werewolves, zombies, and other strange creatures — sometimes as adversaries, and sometimes as clients. Stars Brandon Routh, Taye Diggs, and Sam Huntington.

Earthwork (PG), Drama – The story of real-life crop artist Stan Herd who traveled from Kansas to New York City and risked everything to create a massive environmental artwork on land owned by Donald Trump. The multi-acre piece was made from soil, rock, plants and vegetation near an underground railway tunnel. Stars John Hawkes.

Exporting Raymond (PG), Documentary – Follows Phil Rosenthal as he travels to Russia to meet about doing a local version of “Everybody Loves Raymond.” Stars Phil Rosenthal.

Fast Five (PG-13), Action -Former cop Brian O’Conner partners with ex-con Dom on the opposite side of the law. Backed into a corner in Rio de Janeiro, they must pull one last job in order to gain their freedom. A hard-nosed federal agent is assigned to track down Dom and Brian, he and his strike team launch an all-out assault to capture them. But as his men tear through Brazil, he learns he can’t separate the good guys from the bad. Now, he must rely on his instincts to corner his prey… before someone else runs them down first. Stars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, and Dwayne Johnson.

Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil (PG), Animation – Red has been training in a distant land with a mysterious, covert group called Sisters of the Hood. She is then called upon by Nicky Flippers, head of the Happily Ever After Agency, who teams her with the Wolf to investigate the disappearance of Hansel and Gretel. Stars the voices of Hayden Panettiere, Glann Close, Patrick Warburton, Andy Dick, Martin Short, and Joan Cusack.

Lebanon, Pa (PG-13), Drama – A charming 35-year-old Philadelphia ad man heads to Lebanon, Pa. to bury his recently deceased father. He forms an unexpected friendship with newly pregnant 17-year-old cousin. As he becomes interested in his copusin’s married teacher and his cousin confronts her conflicted father, both struggle with formidable decisions about the path their lives will take. Stars Samantha Mathis.

Prom (PG), Comedy – Several intersecting stories unfold at one high school as the big dance approaches. Starring Aimee Teegarden, Thomas MCDonell, and Danielle Campbell.

Sympathy for Delicious (NR), Dramatic Comedy – A paralyzed DJ, struggling to survive in his wheelchair on the streets of Los Angeles, turns to faith-healing and mysteriously acquires the ability to cure the sick, although not himself. A Jesuit priest tries to help him come to terms with the limits of his gift, while a rock singer in a band tries to exploit the suddenly famous healer. Stars Mark Ruffalo, Orlando Bloom, and Laura Linney.

That’s What I Am (NR), Dramatic Comedy – A happy 12-year-old with friends, a paper route, and a crush, idolizes his favorite teacher, Mr. Simon. However, when Mr. Simon pairs Andy with the frequently bullied school outcast for a lengthy English assignment fears of being relegated to geek status haunt him. While navigating the ups and down of 8th grade, he learns to appreciate his partner’s quiet dignity and compassion, stands up to a bully, and helps repair a fractured friendship. Stars Ed Harris, Mia Rose Frampton, and Randy Orton.
