Weekend Box Office Report: ‘Fast 5’ Blows Away Competition
Fast Five blew away the competition to open at the #1 spot at the box office this weekend grossing $83.6 million. Fox’s animated film Rio slipped one spot to #2 grossing $14.4 million in its third weekend. Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Big Happy Family also dropped a spot, down to #3 bringing in $10.1 million in its second weekend. Water for Elephants dropped a spot to #4 in its second weekend with $9.1 million. Prom opened at the #5 spot for the weekend with $5 million.
