Rachel Weisz Joins ‘Oz The Great and Powerful’

Oscar winner Rachel Weisz (The Constant Gardener) will join Disney’s prequel Oz The Great And Powerful, directed by Sam Raimi and starring James Franco and Mila Kunis.

According to a report, “Weisz would play Evanora, a powerful and evil witch who intends to rule the land. She is the sister of Theadora (Kunis) and tries to seduce her to the dark side.”

Apparently there was a feud over who would be cast in the role. Raimi wanted Hilary Swank, while the studio wanted Michelle Williams. Neither ended up winning.
