Weekend Box Office Report: ‘Transformers’ Dominates The Weekend

Transformers: Dark of the Moon dominated the box office this weekend grossing $97.4 million over the three day weekend to easily lay claim to the #1 spot. Cars 2 dropped a spot to #2 in its second weekend taking in $25.1 million. Cameron Diaz’s Bad Teacher slipped one spot to #3 with $14.1 million. Larry Crowne, the latest movie from Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts, opened at the #4 spot with $13 million. The teen-oriented romantic comedy Monte Carlo opened at #5 with $7.6 million.

BOX OFFICE TOP TEN
1. Transformers: Dark of the Moon – $97.4 million (162.1 million total)
2. Cars 2 – $25.1 million ($116 million total)
3. Bad Teacher – $14.1 million ($59.5 million total)
4. Larry Crowne – $13 million ($13 million total)
5. Monte Carlo – $7.6 million ($7.6 million total)
6. Super 8 – $7.5 million ($108 million total)
7. Green Lantern – $6.3 million ($102 million total)
8. Mr. Popper’s Penguins – $5.1 million ($50.1 million total)
9. Bridesmaids – $3.5 million ($152.9 million total)
10. Midnight in Paris – $3.4 million ($33.6 million total)
