Kenny Ortega Directing ‘Dirty Dancing’ Remake

Lionsgate has signed director and choreographer Kenny Ortega (High School Musical) to helm the remake of Dirty Dancing.

Ortega was a choreographer on the original film, which starred Jennifer Greyand the late Patrick Swayze, which earned over $213 million worldwide on a $6 million budget.

The new version is being written by Julia Dahl (Uptown Girls) and is likely to go into production soon.
