The long awaited trailer for The Hobbit has finally been released!

Swept away by a wizard named Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo Baggins joins with thirteen Dwarves and a legendary warrior to reclaim a lost Dwarf kingdom on an unforgettable journey through the Middle Earth wilderness. Facing Sorcerers, Orcs, Goblins, and the mysterious creature Gollum, Bilbo finds courage, friendship, and a mysterious gold ring.

Peter Jackson once again directs a journey into Middle Earth starring Martin Freeman, Ian Holm, Ian McKellan, Cate Blanchett, and Andy Serkis. The Hobbit hits theaters December 14, 2012.

Check out the trailer below!

What do you guys think? I think it almost seems surreal to see another tale from Lord Of The Rings on the big screen. It seems so familiar – yet it was so long ago. Return Of The King hit theaters in 2003 – 8 years ago!

Will The Hobbit live up to the sheer awesomeness that the first 3 films bestowed upon us? I have no idea what my expectations should be at this point, but I’ll be there opening night waiting inline just like I was with every one of the previous LOTR films!

  1. Epic trailer. I look forward to seeing this next year. I’ll take half days at work reminiscent of leaving early after final exams during high school when I saw the first LOTR film!

  2. It’s hard for me to believe I was a high school senior when the first film came out. Seems like a lifetime ago! This will definitely be one of the most anticipated films of 2012 for me 🙂

  3. You are seriously missing out! One of the best trilogies of all time.

I’m so excited for The Hobbit to come out, I’ve been waiting for this for years. The casting is PERFECT, and it’s good to see a lot of the original cast back. I can’t wait!

  4. The only thing this movie is missing is Viggo Mortensen. But of course I’m going to say that 🙂 But yeah everyone needs to see LOTR. You need to get on that jamisonfitz! All 9 hours of it 🙂

  5. Some of the effects look horrible, and we know Weta is better than that, so hopefully these are just preliminary effects to get the trailer finished.

I read “The Hobbit” in high school, but I never could get into the LOTR trilogy. The movies, however, are amazing and captivated me from beginning to end. Peter Jackson’s Oscar for ROTK was well deserved, for his work on the entire trilogy.
