Stephen King’s ‘It’ Getting Big Screen Adaptation

Cary Fukunaga (Jane Eyre) will direct and co-write Stephen King’s It for the big screen. The book will be adapted into two movies.

Here is the description:

Taking place in the present day as well as decades in the past, the story revolves around members of The Loser’s Club, now adults returning to the hometown where they were once haunted by a mysterious creature in the form of a clown called Pennywise. The creature, known only as It, preyed upon the children of Derry, Maine, and isn’t willing to let its former enemies – who had once come together to defeat it as children – vanquish its evil once again.

  1. I’ll see it–maybe–but the TV miniseries a few years ago was enough. I read the book as well. I don’t see a real need (or interest) in doing it again.

  2. I’m not sure what to think. I know the mini-series was different from the book but two movies seems a bit much. I can’t believe the original was made in 1990 – that’s 22 years old!!!

  3. I agree, jmcharries. That’s why I don’t think there’s a need or interest enough for this project. But hey, they are remaking “Carrie” (AGAIN). I guess the Stephen King mill still churns out $$$$ (even on his older properties).

  4. I don’t see why they didn’t go to HBO or Showtime for it & make it another mini-series. Are they going to split the book into 2 movies that you would see months apart? That doesn’t make sense…

  5. I haven’t read the book, sadly. But, I really can’t wait for this movie. His movies are always so interesting and thrilling.
