‘Independence Day 2’ Has Two Scripts
Many have wondered whether Will Smith will return to the Independence Day franchise, but according to Roland Emmerich they can proceed on schedule either way. Emmerich spoke with Indiewire and said that there are two scripts for Independence Day 2; one with Smith’s character of Captain Steven Hiller and one without. Emmerich noted that the script work by Jamie Vanderbilt (White House Down) is done on both scripts. Regarding Smith’s involvement, Emmerich said that “It’s looking good.”
The film will release on July 3rd, 2015. Bill Pullman and Jeff Goldblum are rumored to be returning, but nothing is official.
