MGM to Remake ‘Road House’

MGM is set to remake the 1989 movie Road House. Rob Cohen (Fast and the Furious) will direct.

The original film was directed by Rowdy Herrington and was produced by Joel Silver. It starred Patrick Swayze, Kelly Lynch, Sam Elliott and Ben Gazzara. It followed a bouncer with a mysterious past who is hired to take control of a dirty bar in Missouri.

The script for the remake will be written by Michael Stokes (Crash). Matt Dines will oversee for MGM, who has been trying to exploit their older titles.

The original film earned over $30 million in the domestic box office and developed a cult following on home video and cable.
