What’s New on BritBox for September 2021
BritBox is a U.S. subscription video-on-demand service owned by BBC Worldwide and ITV plc. It focuses primarily on British television series, featuring current and past series supplied from the BBC and ITV. Some series, such as Coronation Street, have new episodes available the next day after their British premiere.
Here’s what’s coming to BritBox in September!
September 1, 2021: Vera S11 – Part 1
DCI Vera Stanhope (Brenda Blethyn Kate & Koji, Secrets & Lies) returns, leading her diligent team of detectives as they investigate complex and murderous crimes. Whether it’s to flush out the truth behind the death of a well-respected local builder or braving the stark natural beauty of Northumberland National Park to follow in the footsteps of her unfortunate victim, Vera will bring her usual brand of searing insight, caustic wit and fearless detection to cases involving unbelievable betrayals, toxic obsessions and long-buried secrets.
September 1, 2021: Vera S10
In the 10th season of this award-winning whodunit inspired by Ann Cleeves’ best-selling novels and starring Brenda Blethyn (Kate & Koji, Secrets & Lies), Vera and her team will be confronted with four more tragic and intriguing murder cases, from a man’s body pulled out from the sea at his biological father’s salmon farm, to a cleaner found bruised and dead by the trash bin. However complicated and puzzling, Vera is ready to connect the dots and track down the culprit.
September 11, 2021: Last Night of the Proms 2021
An always thoroughly entertaining event, and this year’s should be more thrilling than ever. Last Night of the Proms returns with audiences finally invited back to the Royal Albert Hall for a night of music and merriment. This year’s grand classic musical event will be conducted by Sakari Oramo, chief conductor of the BBC Symphony Orchestra, who is scheduled to perform, as is Last Night tradition.
September 14, 2021: The Museum
The higher you climb, the further there is to fall. Della Howells (Nia Roberts, The Crown), a wife, mother and passionate historian, has finally secured the top job at the Museum of Wales. But with power comes problems, and after embarking on a reckless affair with a charismatic stranger, Della’s life starts to fall apart. September 2021: QI Season S
QI is the multi-BAFTA-nominated comedy entertainment show full of quirky questions and fun facts. Hosted by Sandi Toksvig (The Great British Bake-Off), panelists are rewarded for being interesting rather than right; indeed, credit is often given for wrong answers, providing they are not dull! This extremely successful returning series has strong global appeal and its prestige has attracted a host of international stars to join the panel: previous guests have included Jerry Springer, Teri Hatcher and Daniel Radcliffe.
September 21-25, 2021: The RHS Chelsea Flower Show
RHS Chelsea’s gardens represent the pinnacle of horticultural excellence. And for the first time ever, the world’s greatest flower show will be held in September with the usual cutting-edge garden design and fabulous floral displays. The 2021 Chelsea Flower Show will celebrate the life and work of nurses and the NHS, with a series of show gardens dedicated to the nursing profession. This famous event is set to premiere daily from September 21st to 25th.
September 28, 2021: Lucan
On November 7th, 1974, Sandra Rivett, nanny to the aristocratic Lucan family, was found bludgeoned to death. Soon after, prime suspect Lord Lucan disappeared, never to be seen again. It was the scandal that rocked the establishment. Lucan portrays the glamourous world of the attractive Earl and tells the incredible true story of the dark life which lay behind the public image. This gripping drama starring Rory Kinnear (The Imitation Game, The Mystery of Edwin Drood) from the makers of Mrs Biggs and Appropriate Adult answers one of the greatest mysteries of modern times. September 28, 2021: The Lucan Mystery
In 1974, the world was captivated by the brutal murder of a 29-year-old nanny named Sandra Rivett, and the rapid disappearance of the main suspect: Lord Lucan. This documentary unearths a crucial new witness – the 16 year old baby-sitter to Susan Maxwell-Scott who was allegedly the last person to see Lord Lucan alive. Susan was one of his closest friends, and he went to see her shortly after the death of his nanny Sandra Rivett. This is the first time that the baby-sitter has come forward. There are interviews with Susan Maxwell-Scott herself, as well as others close to the case including Lucan’s family, friends and Det. Chief Insp. David Gerring. Also investigated is the mysterious address book that gives a clue to the alleged whereabouts of Lucan in Africa.
