You Season 3 officially debuted on Netflix in the early hours of October 15, 2021! And if you’re like us, you can’t turn away from this creepy fascinating series and the web of lies and murder that Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) and Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti) has gotten themselves into.

More hidden bodies? We can only assume.

The last season left us with so many questions. Not to mention it’s been close to 2 years since Season 2’s finale was watched by most of us! So what do we know heading into the new season.

Here’s what we know.

You Season 3 Release Date And Storyline

The new season of You will premiere on October 15, 2021 on Netflix. And it will continue the the story of Joe and Love Quinn’s (Victoria Pedretti) relationship, her new pregnancy (as revealed in the trailer), and their transition to the suburb of Madre Linda.

Is Joe capable of leaving his old ways behind? If the answer was yes, there wouldn’t be a You Season 3.

We’ll see Joe continue to repeat past behaviors when he encounters his newest obsession, Joe and Love’s neighbor, Natalie (played by Michaela McManus), who we met briefly at the end of last season.

Going into the new season, we don’t know much about Natalie, other than she’s successful, both professionally and socially. She also has a successful CEO husband (played by Scott Speedman), and while she seems like she might be a little Stepford-like on the surface, she actually leads a secret life. Naturally, Joe is intrigued and invested in wanting to learn more about her.

Don’t count out Love though in this new season. She’s determined to have her perfect family, and she’s not going to let Joe’s compulsive actions destory that for her.

You Season 3 Filming

The second season of the psychological thriller premiered December 26, 2019, and while filming on Season 3 was suspended for two weeks due to COVID-19, it did resume in February 2021.

The New Cast Members

There’s no shortage of new cast members for Season 3. Seriously, there’s a lot of them!

Let’s start with the one we’re most excited about. Because we’re Felicity fans for life (even though we are still, two decades later, solidly team Noel).

Scott Speedman, as we mentioned above, plays the husband of Natalie. While being a successful CEO, he’s also a withdrawn father with an air of mystery around him.

Tati Gabrielle (a fan-favorite from Netflix’s The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) joins the cast as Marienne. She will play a librarian you lives in Joe and Love’s neighborhood.

Dylan Arnold will play Theo, a college student who has a complicated and strained relationship with his stepfather. His official character description adds: “Theo is wise and perceptive, but vulnerable and troubled, with a propensity to get tangled up in his loved ones’ problems and to drown his own in controlled substances and dangerous behavior.”

Next we have Shannon Chan-Kent who plays Kiki and Kiki’s husband Brandon (played by Christopher Sean). Kiki is “a wife, mother and life coach who enjoys a life of entitlement, frequenting mid-day fitness classes and enjoying lengthy gossip sessions at the local cafe”. And Brandon is a wealthy and successful tech investor who is now a stay-at-home dad looking after the couple’s kids.

Chris O’Shea plays Andrew, yet another stay-at-home dad in the neighborhood who is a bit of a neighborhood gossip. His husband Jackson, will be played by Bryan Safi, who is a high-powered tech attorney.

Ben Mehl plays Dante, who is described as a confident, independent but fallible veteran. He has lost his sight but has found rather incredible ways to adapt and continue to be a librarian. He is a loyal family man who deeply loves his two stepchildren.

Even More New Cast!

There’s still more new cast. We’re not done yet!

British actress and model, Saffron Burrows will play Dottie Quinn, Love’s mother.

NCIS‘s Shalita Grant will play Sherry, a “‘mom-fluencer’ who appears down to earth, but is actually a mean girl who only pretends to welcome Love into her social circle”.

Scott Michael Foster plays Ryan, who has his own set of dark secrets he keeps hidden. He’s a local news reporter as well as single father who once had addiction issues.

The Last Ship‘s Travis Van Winkle’s plays Cary, a charming and wealthy self proclaimed founder who runs his own supplement company.

And lastly, we’ll see a number of Flashbacks in the new season to a younger Joe, played by Jack Fisher.

How Many Episodes Will There Be in Season 3?

There will be 10 episodes, the same as past seasons. We only have 1 episode name and description so far, and that’s for the first episode, And They Lived Happily Ever After.

The description reads:

Now married with a young baby, Love and Joe try to forge a normal life in the affluent suburb of Madre Linda. But old habits die hard.

Will There Be A You Season 4?

Updated October 14, 2021

Yes! Netflix announced You Season 4 on October 13th, a few days ahead of the Season 3 premiere. Netflix shared the following video with their announcement.

There’s no additional news available yet in terms of casting, timeline or storyline, but showrunner Sera Gamble did comment on the news of the renewal saying:

“Reading Caroline’s novel, Greg and I were instantly obsessed with Joe Goldberg and his twisted world view. And it’s been thrilling to watch Penn bring Joe to creepy yet compelling life. We’re deeply grateful that Netflix has shown You such monumental support, and that people around the world have enjoyed watching Joe really get it all very wrong over the past 3 seasons. The whole You team is excited to explore new, dark facets of love in season 4.”

You was renewed for Season 3 roughly 3 weeks after Season 2 premiered in December of 2019. So this news coming ahead of the Season 3 debut leads us to believe we’re going to be left on quite the cliffhanger!

  1. I’m looking forward to You Season 3, but I am a little worried about how much farther it will veer off the themes of the original text. For example, the character Joe is supposed to show that the stereotypical silent, strong possessive male love interest often portrayed in movies or television shows is actually an abusive stalker.

  2. This is a show that I know I could get into but is one I have not started yet! There are too many good ones to choose from and so little time!
