DVD Review: Definitely, Maybe

From the creators of Love Actually and Notting Hill comes Definitely, Maybe: an irresistibly funny, heart-warming comedy that proves it is never too late for another chance at love. Featuring an all-star cast, including Ryan Reynolds, Isla Fisher, Derek Luke, Abigail Breslin, Elizabeth Banks and Rachel Weisz, this charming and romantic feel-good hit is a must-own DVD.

Review:
Definitely, Maybe possess all the cuteness that a movie of this genre should. Coming from the creators of Love Actually, one of my favorite romantic comedies, I had high expectations for this film. And while the film isn’t entirely predictable, the ending is a bit too cliche to earn my praise. Love Actually it is not. With that being said, it’s still a wonderful date movie, and worth checking out if you’re a fan of romantic comedies.

I was disappointed that there wasn’t more humor in this film. Cute though it was, it was a bit more serious than I would have liked. The film follows Will Hayes, a New Yorker in his 30’s who has a 10-year-old daughter named Maya. Maya wants to know how he met and fell in love with her mother, who Will is now divorcing. Will decides to tell his daughter the story of how he ended up with her mother. Going into perhaps more detail than he should, he tells Maya the story. The film follows 3 different love interests that brings us to the current day, and offers Will a chance to reanalyze the women in his life and the decisions that should be made now. With a little encouragement from Maya, Will discovers that perhaps it’s not too late for a second chance at love.
