Supernatural’s Jensen Ackles Signs on for Western ‘Rust’

Supernatural’s Jensen Ackles will star in the upcoming Western Rust. Joel Souza is writing and directing for the American frontier film, which also stars Alec Baldwin, Frances Fisher, Brady Noon, and Travel Fimmel. 

Originally, Rust was set to begin production in May 2020. However, the project is now moving forward this fall in New Mexico with the start of principal photography.

The Plot of Rust

The plot revolves around an infamous Western outlaw, Harland Rust (Alec Baldwin). For as long as he can remember, Harland has had a bounty on his head.

However, he finds himself traveling to Kansas after his 13-year-old grandson Lucas (Brady Noon) is convicted of an accidental murder. Lucas will hang for the crime. And his only hope is Harland breaking him out of jail.

While fleeing from the law, two men are pursued by Wood Helm (Ackles) and Preacher (Fimmel), legendary U.S. Marshals who are hot on their trail. Deep-rooted secrets emerge from the flames, an unexpected familial connection begins to form, and the mismatched pair attempts to survive the merciless American Frontier

After fifteen seasons of the hit CW series Supernatual, Ackles, 42, has not slowed down. Next up, he’ll appear on the small screen will be for the The Boys Season 3 on Amazon. He’ll be playing the role of Soldier Boy.

The Boys Season 3 will film in early 2022. Until then, Ackles is spending his free time in Austin, Texas with his wife Danneel and their children, daughter Justice and twins Arrow and Zeppelin.

In October of 2020, Ackles and his wife announced they were forming a production company, Chaos Machine Productions. Along with the announcement was the news that the couple signed an exclusive, multi-year deal with Warner Bros. Television.

  1. Been following Jensen’s career for 23 years, and he never ceases to amaze me. Having met him at several cons and seeing how warm and humble and kind he is just blew my expectations out of the water and made me want to support him even more. Have never seen The Boys before, but will watch for him now and so excited for the movie as he’s wanted to be in a western for years!
